The Ferry Corsten Experience
My legs are burning. My head hurts. My arms don't respond. I hear nothing but humming. I'm exhausted.
What a fucking show!!! To begin any review, let me say this club is terrible. Luce's not only charges outrendous prices , but they had the nerve to put a sign in the washroom "Due To A Copper Pipe Leak our Water Is Not Safe To Drink" . Excuse me , but not only is that illegal, it's very dangerous to cut of water supply during a dance show. I realized later the reason was the 4.75$ water bottles. KidVicious started the crowds out with some amazing trance and progressive tracks. His set was capitulated with a fantastic version of "Clocks" by Coldplay, featuring a great house beat. He got the crowd pumped and by the time that funny little man from Holland came on stage everyone was pumped. There was a packed dance floor. A fantastic sound system set up, and lights brought in just for Ferry. He was a crowd pleasure, and Vancouver loves him. This is a man used to playing for 40,000 or more people at Gatecrasher or Creamfields. We're talking about the #7 DJ in the entire world coming to do a private club in Canada. He gave everyone a show of a lifetime, putting more energy into his music then most DJ's put in a lifetime. It was hypnotizing to watch him spin, and I couldn't leave the front of the stage the entire show. As the song "Punk" came on, the audience started singing the beat and a huge smile crept along his face. Suddenly he dropped the beat and the crowd started singing his music until he threw his hands in the air in glee. Azim was in the background the whole time like a kid in a candy store loving every minute of it. Suddenly a cd slid into the Panasonic CDJ-1000 and Azim started screaming that it was a good one. Ferry smiled as "rock your body rock" got the whole crowd screaming. Everyone began singing along until it erupted in a frenzy of fists and jumping. The hardcores stuck the beats out until he saddly stopped everything, only to begin his ONE HOUR oncore! Yes this man played the crowd through 'till 3 AM leaving all the hardcores in a trance dream. It only got more powerfull! And for a mega superstar he is more humble then you can imagine it. All smiles and thank you as every member of the audience tried to shake his hand. The music started dying out and I could see Teddy ( aka Jib Monkey on FNK ) at the very front screaming "ONE MORE FERRY! DON'T STOP!" , and Ferry listened. To the bitter end until they turned the house lights on , he spun some of the best sets I had ever heard. Yes Ferry Corsten lives up to his legend, and he gave Vancouver a run for their money. One of the most energetic sets I've ever seen in my life. Huge props go to Azim and Kraig for putting this together! Music fans everywhere owe you a debt! I HATE LUCE'S WITH A PASSION and will not go there anymore for any event. Not enough room, too hot, shitty prices and really no bar specials. Almost all girls who worked there were either too bitchy or snobby. Fuck the whole scene there. I'd rather hit the Cave, or Sonar, or Lotus.

I totally agree, Luce's is hurting.
Like I said, I've never seen somewhere so cheap that they tried to scam people with the water. It's a health violation to not offer clean drinking water at any establishment in vancouver. But it was said before, I'd go to some hobo's garage to see Corsten. |
