Stanton Warriors @ Cellar
Okay, frankly, that is one of the best performances I've seen in years. Hands down. You know when you make me dance, that's gotta say something. The set was amazing. There was so much energy in there, and the Stanton Warriors fed off it like nothing else. The place was packed, and I had a hella good time.
Those two are pretty DAMN fun people to party with, too. Very down to earth, funny guys. I'm pretty sure they'll see this, so...thanks guys, for an awesome show. Have a good trip back, and we WILL see you next time. :D Special thanks to Akeel, TeamR3, LDUB, the boys from edit for loaning the night out, the gang afterwards, and to the Shy Brothers for getting those guys into town. Hope you had a fun night as well! |

Damn did the boys un-leash the funk fury last night at The Cellar! Last night was a very clear demonstration of why Dominic and Mark are the Stanton Warriors and how well they really work together behind the decks. (Or in Mark's case, behind the Midiman keyboard and laptop.)
For all you Breaks heads out there... Over dinner last night with Dominic and Mark, I discovered Stanton has some BIG plans coming up soon... - a new Stanton album - a follow up to the Stanton Sessions CD - a total of FIVE new tracks pressed on their own "Punks" label! - several new remixes coming out as well... We heard some of the stuff last night that will be pressed on the Punks label in the next few months... Ryan will agree when I say WOW! Also the new Plump DJ's track (not the Ghettofunk remix) they played last night, which I forget the damn name to right now, is SICK! -- Anyone who has said anything negative about the Plump's production as of late will certainly be surprised at this one! Anyway... I have to give credit where credit is due... To Solid Corp for actually paying to have the boys out here. Wholly shit I am tired and my head hurts... (sigh) Off to work I go! |

Looks like I missed a good night, sorry guys but I ended up passing out at 8:30 and waking up at 2:30 then fallin back asleep at 3 and woke up at 5:30 for work.. now i feel like shit cause it seems like I got too much sleep... urgh.. should have gone out, i'd probably fell much better.
-can't wait to hear Stanton's new stuff in the future... i have some catching up to do in my production i guess.. time to work and then get home and bust my ass off in the studio. :kam: Kraig's words to live by: sleep is for the Weak... LOL j/j |

four words: oh my FREAKING goodness. although the two shows are totally different and cannot really be compared, after going to the scratch tour, i didn't think that i would be going to another show that would knock my socks right off my feet for a REALLY long time. last night didn't just knock my socks off, it blew my whole fxcking body off the face of this universe! i haven't danced that hard for EONS!! even though i was tired as hell from partying hard on friday and saturday, i couldn't stop for more than a minute. i'd stop to catch my breath and yawn for a second, and then they'd drop SICK beat after SICK beat and i'd start flailing as if my life was about to end again. lol.
thanks SO much to everyone who made this show happen: stanton warriors!!, akeel, team R3, and solid corp! <3 now i have to run errands and work until 10pm. :soak: |

I definitely had a killer time. Thanks to all involved. Seeing that kind of presence in a smaller club environment was awesome.
I thought my energy had been tapped from the weekend but I was most definitely proven wrong! Lauryn: sorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorry sorrysorrysorry! |

I would like to officially apologize to Solid Corp, Mike, Ben, Jimmy, & Stan.
Unfortunately i did not officially clear the appearance of the Stanton Warriors at the Cellar with Solid Corp. and it was only due to their graciousness that myself and teamR3 were permitted to deliver on what I had promised. Without them - the Stanton Warriors wouldn't have been here in the first place, i wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet them, nor would they have graced us as they did last night. Although this show happened by the strangest means and was pulled off entirely last minute, its great to see the support that it did. This show happened because we were allowed to do it - plain and simple. Thats all due to Solid for bringing The Stanton Warriors to Vancouver for their first canadian appearance ever, and to the Warriors themselves for wanting to play. Massive respect to Solid Corp for letting me put this together. Thanks to the WFB crew for bumping their own lineup for the night and letting us share their venue. My teamR3 mates, for pulling everything together like the well oiled machine we are, especially L-Dub. And last but not least, massive big ups to Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley (The Stanton Warriors), I cant thank you guys enough for all that you did and the amazing vibe you brought with you. Respect. Akeel |

The show at the Cellar was awesome. Goes to show there's A LOT of kids on the internet looking for something to do on a Monday nite. Good to know...
Props to R3 (esp. Akeel & L-Dub) for pulling it together last minute, and of course to Solid for bookin the big boys in the first place. Goes to show you that Vancouver has good taste. |
