I hear you man!
Except for gnius and the second guy up, i just turned around and grinded my teeth to for their whole sets.... Very very disapointing to see Van has such crappy battle djs now :( Even the DMC rep (Chris) said that this was the worste DMC he has seen yet!! |

Do you think it could've been partly the set up? dj msn's been doing this for awhile now, but he looked like a newbie out there.
and what the fuck was up with dj chest hair. i mean what the fuk! they really shouldnt let people who aren't serious up there. Quote:

vancouver does have better dj's than what we saw tonight, but for whatever reason, they didnt enter, or backed out, or they did enter and choked.
sense and krisp-p, among others, should have repped. as for the set up, i did see there was a faulty mixer, which was provided by dmc, but interestingly, the dj's who soundhchecked had less problems during their sets. massive big ups to dj all good, who went from chest hair status at clash last november, to what he is now. that was an amazing improvement. thanks to all who supported - try to convince capable people you know to enter next year. i was impressed with dj all good.. everything seemed to just work for him and he made it look really easy, which is when you know they've practiced for days on end for the 6 minutes. of course congrats to gnius and hopes all goes well in the canadian champs for him. i admire him for his stage presense. can't believe he hit a glitch at the end, we've all seen him do the same trick before and its like he can do it in his sleep.. jumpy needle? the pros would know. i expected a lot more, but hey thats what happens when ppl dont enter the competition. hopefully next year it would be a lot better.

back to the point in this thread*
i was hugely disappointed. i hear so many people saying they can do this or they can do that, and what a disappointing entry turnout. technical difficulties aside [and lets face it, there were a few and that doesn't help the crowd keep their focus], i felt like vancouver representated at the lowest level. gnius was great of course, i caught his little hang up as well, i wasn't overly impressed with the size of his head though. dj all good was fantastic. points for improvement, style, and taste. i enjoyed his set the most. almost flawless, with a little more hard work and dedication we could see him going to canadians in years to come. suburban-crews get made respect as i think almost all entrants were from the boonies. time in the bedroom pays off, but obviously not for some. frank n dank. come on. three tracks and one was talking to some chick in the front row telling her how hot she was and then hyping their new cd. couldn't really expect more though i suppose. but they are talented. saw them strolling at spanish banks west the next day, fully decked out in thug wear...on one of the hottest days of the year, almost felt sorry for them! anyways, my irrelevant two cents. |
