Fort Knox Five (Jon's visit)
God damn did he throw down an AWESOME set at Shine on Saturday!!!
Where the shit was everyone? I mean I know Jon played at the Lotus on Wednesday, but he threw down a completely different set at Shine... FULL of the funk -- stuff between 105-125bpm. To top that off, after Shine, he tagged with Vinyl Ritchie (now it just doesn't get better than that - Fort Knox Five vs. Vinyl Ritchie) at an awesome afterhours. This was a pro afterhours for sure with professional visuals (two huge screens, full rigging, etc.) a proper and good sounding setup and a full bar! Don't ask me where it is cause I forget. Anyway, mad props to my boy Jon for throwing down the awesome sets that he did. He is up in Whistler tonight throwing it down at Czech's night which is bound to be a good time as well! Peace. |

Well, I waited in the line-up for over an hour with a bunch of really pissed off ppl cause I specifically went to see Jon's set. It wasn't even a matter of the fireworks when it came to getting in or not. There really were not that many ppl in front of us in the regular line, but the bouncers only let in a few ppl at a time every 30 minutes or so. When 12:30am rolled around and there were still a good 8 people in front of us, we decided to screw it. The bouncers basically left us outside in the line to make it look like there was a huge crowd trying to get in. The only people that were actually getting in were either people who were VIP, females on their own, guys that had at least 2 females each with them, or ppl who paid the bouncers ($20 at the door, another $10 downtstairs...I would have even paid it to see Fort Knox if I had paid right when I had shown up, but after waiting and waiting, we didn't feel right paying to get in.) Really sucks that we missed such a great night, esp since I was stoked to find out that Wednesday night wasn't the last of it. Shit happens, but I'm definitely not going to Shine again. Sick of putting up with the bouncers wasting my time.

^^
you shouldn't have told me that. grrrrrrr. oh well, the boy wanted to go too and he had a friend with him, so i wouldn't have just left them. i guess they would have just paid to get in though since they were already willing to. i was too, but when we first got there, the line-up looked short enough that we thought we were going to get in pretty fast. then after that we were just being boneheaded. more and more time passed, then we kept on thinking "well we've already waited THIS long, we should just wait". then after a while it was just ridiculous, but even though it was still only 12:30am, we didn't want to pay after having gone through that. oh well, shxt happens! |

Thats exactly what happened the last time i went there ... and I'm sorry!
It would have been bad had it just been the two of us and we had waited in line the entire time... If it's any consolation, I fell down the path to Tower beach many, many times instead? haha. I'm going to try and get list for a couple weeks from now, and I'll make sure to CHECK FIRST and then we'll go and have some trouble! |

Hey Peoples,
First off... I am sorry everyone didn't get into Shine. And I don't want to rub it in... But that joint was a blast!!! They had some kind of "VIP" ting going on in the back room, and that is what caused this mad confusion. Next time I play there, it will be sorted out better. We will have to make a code word or something. Big thanks go to Kraig, Vinyl Richie, Wicked Lester, Soda, Addy, and all of my other BC homies and Homettes. BC is one of my favorite places to play in the world! Seriously... I have experienced nothing but great vibes and parties. Hopefully I will be seeing all you catz again real soon. And those who have cds of our stuff, feel free to spread the love. Next time I am out that way, come up and say hello. Peace out, JonH of the Fort Knox Five If anyone is in the DC area for September 11th. (I really doubt it). Come to our charity party, FUNK 4 PEACE! with: Afrika Bambaataa, Fort Knox Five, Thunderball with Mustafa Akbar, and many more. 50% of the proceeds go to the International Commitee of the Red Cross. |
