Whew. Nearly 10 days later I figure its about time to give a review.
Honestly - there was an insane amount of hype and expectations going into this party. To the point where I hadn't been that excited for a party since Apex of last year. And back to that honesty bit - it didn't disappoint in one way. Sure there was a couple things that went a little awry - the mainstage not working at first and them having to shut it down for a little bit at the start - then juss before Ruckus went on too (I believe), a few promises were not upheld; of no fault of the promoters mind you, the sumo wrestling and laser tag was thanks to the weather - but that was a little disappointing. But the stage setup for the mainstage was SICK! I havent had that much fun looking up and getting mesmerized by EVERYTHING that surrounded me since Apex (or perhaps Godspeed 2). The green lasers, the HUGE megatrons on either side and the wall of video screens on the edge - AND THE HUGE SPEAKERS. On more then one occasion I was caught breathing in the delights of being centimeters away from beautiful speakers like that. I was rather disappointed in the setup for the DnB stage but the techno stage definantly had some cool lightings in it. I've been too many a party - but the trippiest thing I have ever seen at any party was when the green laser was hitting the rain in the morning - it looked like a green sparkling ceiling, or green snow that never fell - it was almost magical - it was awesome. The music wasn't bad. Honestly I was a little disappointed at some points. The DnB stage was decent for most of the night - throwing down hardcore heavy metal beats which was definantly a nice switch - the tunes I heard at that stage was different then most DnB stages but it was a nice switch I must say. The mainstage however - didn't really get good until Hyperfunk got on. Deliverances and Hirshees set was fuckin INSANE! and Sean Ghallagers was decent - but hyperfunks and hirshees and even missy chrissy and busty st. claires set was exceptional. Those beats kept me going all throughout the night. It was definantly sweet hearing them mix the original SHOUT song into some of their sets. Though it really pissed me off - I was in the tent when one of the DJ's started mixing in Around the World from Daft Punk - I book it to the dancefloor and as soon as I get there he switched songs - played Around the World for a maximum of 30 seconds, that was kinda dank. But other then that the music was in-fucking-sane. Except for the techno stage - but that's another story that starts with a T and ends with an O. The people were interesting - they were either really cool interesting or really weird interesting - but they were all interesting nonetheless. All were friendly on my part - though I did hear some stories where that wasn't the case; Mike's as well as a couple other friends of mine. But for the parts where I actually met new people everyone was all cool and it was definantly seeing some old faces out for Shout. It was awesome to feel the good ol' Island Vibe in full effect - the last few parties have been rather lacking to what I've been brought up to expect from Island parties and it was nice to see everyone was down for partying hardcore and go all out insane for Shout. Nat, Beth, Jess, Vanessa, Christy - all you beauties, it was awesome seeing you and meeting both vanessa and christy. Spencer, James and the 'Wack crew - awesome seein yeah'all as always. Kevin, Chris, [Bambi-Hunni] - great seeing you guys out for this one, haven't seen you for a while Kevin and it was awesome partying with you guys again. NeXt uP - Bassix - BOH YA! !THEN APEX! July 30th ! already got mah tickets :D. |
