Don't sweat the Technique
so i was up in kelowna for Canada Day. not much was happening in the town, it was too windy for fireworks. Found out there was a rave going on at The Warehouse in downtown Kelowna.
Headliners : Simply Jeff, Dabbler AnTiPoP & Mode were the promoters, they were spinning some good breaks mixing up the new with the old. Dj thistle was doing a breaks and DnB set. we left the party around 1:30 becasue we had to get up in the morning and get back to Vancouver for IMF. The setup was pretty good actually, lots of lights and visuals. Sound was good, maybe too much bass. some good songs that were played you couldn't even hear over the beat. didn't see dabbler's set, someone said he might not be comming. he might of came sometime after we left but im not sure. there was a lot of train wrecking. one dj messed up honestly every single mix he did. many times a song would come on out of no where really loud. few times the dj left the record spinning and the next track came on and he had to kill it quickly. lots of mistakes but all the party kids didn't seem to notice. they usually yelled and screamed when there was an error like they were having the time of their lives. a lot of the people there are slam dancers. flying all over the place and banging into everyone. they liked to almost mosh when jungle was being played. lots fo arms flailing around all over the place. different scene thats for sure, it was good to see that everyone was having a good time though. seems to be a tight group of regulars there. good music, friendly people, just the DJing needs some work but not bad for a small town. just thought i'd share my opinion on this one. didn't see anyone i know from vancouver there. i would check out another party in k-town for sure. |
