AREA one
- Trance, Hard Dance, Hard Style -

RANK 1 (www.rank-1.com) Holland

The story started around 1997 when Piet Bervoets and Benno de Goeij met each other at a party. Piet already was into music and DJ'ing and had his own studio at the time. This sounded very interesting to Benno, who had no experience at all in producing. Benno already had a perfect ear for good melodies, due to his classical musical background by playing the piano and the keyboard. They decided to cooperate and the first releases as Pedro & Benno soon followed. After many successes under different artist name’s, the name Rank 1 was born in 1998, as a joke. They thought it would be nice to see this name at a number 1 position! But the joke became reality when 'Airwave' hit numerous charts at that position. After this they had many successes like their remix of Cygnus X's 'Superstring' , the Sensation theme of 2000. Their next single 'Such Is Life' became next years Sensation anthem, was released in July 2001 and climbed the charts with the speed of light. The album Symsonic, on which Piet and Benno demonstrated their variety, is not just an album for the dancefloor but one to listen to at home as well. Also a DVD with their live performance at Trance Energy 2002 is included along with their video’s. Soon after this release their single ‘Awakening’ hit the European charts.

ANNE SAVAGE (www.annesavage.net) UK

Anne is the personification of dance music – Fun, up for it and full of attitude. Her high-energy sound combined with effortless technical ability combines to melt dance floors and ears from Cardiff to Cairo. Anne’s journey to DJ notoriety began back in her hometown of Burnley, where she was thrown in at the deep end and asked to become resident at the legendary ‘Angels’ alongside guest DJ luminaries such as Joey Beltram and Carl Cox. Heavily influenced by the dance scene explosion that took northern England by storm, it wasn’t long before Anne’s lead guitar had been traded in for a pair of decks. Working in the infamous record shop Eastern Bloc by day and DJing in clubs by night, the start of Anne’s ascendancy to the DJ elite came in the form of a residency at event leaders of their time, ‘Ark ’ in Leeds alongside Sasha, Graeme Park and John Digweed. Anne Savage is a prominent fixture on the world DJ circuit and the last 10 years have seen her progress from DJing and producing to become the face of dance music for a generation. The DJ Voted one of the World’s Top Female DJs in DJ Magazine’s ‘World’s Top 100 DJs’ and featured as the only female in the ‘Top 10 Club DJs in Britain’ by the Independent on Sunday, Anne is a DJ and producer in demand internationally, playing in almost every corner of the globe with her usual hectic four to five gig weekends. Most recently Anne played at Paris Hilton’s VVIP London perfume launch, where she tore up the dancefloor and made it onto the pages of OK and the Daily S---------

SIGNUM (www.signum-djs.com) Holland

Signum is the combination of two talented producers in the European music industry. They are Pascal Minnaard, ( age 29) and Ronald Hagen (also age 29). Both live in Zoetermeer, a little city nearby The Hague, there home base in The Netherlands. Pascal & Ron first met each other in high school. This was the place were they found out that they had the same interest in making music, and started to do some work together. Although they lost contact, they both continued making there music. During that time, Pascal got a record contract at the Dutch label/agency BPM Dance. Here he made his first track, under his own name on the label 4-Play (Inside a Rainbow). For his second release ("Flow of Knowledge”,” The Other Side”,” Adapter"), he started working under the name Signum, on the label Jinx from former company BPM Dance. At this time Pascal met up with Ron again. Ron also signed up with BPM Dance and they started producing together again. Not knowing that this turned out to be a huge success. Because when they released their first track together, in 1997 on the JINX label, called "What you got for me", the record became a huge club anthem. And with it's re-release in 2001 (on TidyTrax) it even got the nr.36 position in the UK

JAY PIDGEON (www.mostwanteduk.com) UK

In just a few weeks Irish born Extreme Euphoria resident hard beat dj Jay Pidgeon will be making his debut at the seventh Tidy Weekender in Prestatyn. If you're not aware who Pidgeon is then you maybe forgiven as his main fan base is in Ireland. This is where he started as a Dj Producer and Radio host. He started his djing at the tender age of 15 and just after a few years he rose through the ranks to be awarded Best Irish Dj by Ireland's largest dance music station 2FM. He was also nominated for Best Irish DJ by BBM magazine and he's also hearlined the hard dance stage at Creamfields in Ireland. After his massive success in his home country Jay decided to spread his wings and moved to the UK. We are proud to bring this rising star to Vancouver!

AREA TWO
- House, Progressive, Speed Garage -

LAIDBACK LUKE (www.laidbackluke.com) Holland

Windmills and dance music, thats what Holland is known for, not forgetting the cheese and the wooden shoes of course. You can understand why Laidback Luke has named his first live mix-cd "Windmill Skill", rather than making a connection to the other stereotypically Dutch foodstuffs and footwear. Both as producer and DJ, Laidback Luke has all that it takes to become an International star! Not only did he produce "We can Not Get Enough," the highly successful Anthem to this year's Dance Valley, but he is also capable of filling venues the length and breadth of the country every time he plays. After the release of his debut album "Electronic Satisfaction" in 2002, Laidback Luke worked more as a DJ than as a producer. He performed from America to Japan and Ibiza, and as the highlight at a number of this summer's festivals such as Sensation, Lovefields, Awakenings, and Innercity. We are proud to bring this super star for his first ever Vancouver appearance!

HOSTED BY SUPER STAN”

Formation Records presents: 2 DJ’s & The Vocalist Tour feat DJ SS & Influx back to back on 4 turntables featuring vocals by Kay

DJ SS (Formation Records) - UK
DJ SS played an important role in the early-'90s development of drum'n'bass, releasing a number of formative tracks beginning in 1990 on his co-owned Formation label before returning in the mid-'90s with a plethora of productions after a brief sabbatical. SS's involvement in the drum'n'bass scene predates its development, back in the days of hardcore. In the early '90s when hardcore began to morph into what would become known as drum'n'bass, he released a series of influential tracks on Formation, including "Breakbeat Pressure," one of the style's early classics. However, once drum'n'bass traded its hardcore roots for a more ragga-inflected sound around 1993, SS retired from production, not being interested in the ragga sound. He focused his efforts during this period on other labels that he ran. He returned to drum'n'bass a few years later, though, in a big way. Throughout the late '90s he released several records on different labels under a number of monikers (Keen, Tekniq), becoming one of the more recognized producers in the U.K. drum'n'bass scene. Let this legend take on all the true junglists!

Influx (Formation Records, Contagious Musiq) - UK

Influx UK had his first experience of production at the age of 9! For a school play he made a 'dub version' of the Pink Floyd song 'Brick In The Wall' by cutting out the vocals and recording it to tape. His father showed him guitar and chord structure at 11. By 15 he was learning to mix and scratch and became an avid collector of US Hip Hop, and later Chicago House. Going to the raves in London during the late 80's, Gavin developed a love for the beats and breaks. He cites Fingers Inc., Farley Jackmaster Funk, Frankie Bones and Run DMC as major influences. Taking time out during the early 1990's, he started producing again in 1996, and soon after met up with Marco to form Influx Datum. Currently working on a solo album project for Formation entitled '2 Million And Rising', check out the Influx UK tracks 'Sing Out And Reach From The Soul, Baby' on the Formation 100 album and 'Take My' on a Formation 12". Remix work includes MJ Cole's 'Wondering Why' for Talkin' Loud/Mercury which recently stormed to No.30 in the National UK chart, and remixes for East-West/Warners and Hospital Records.

Kay (Formation Records) LIVE VOCALS - USA

DJ Craze (www.djcraze.com - Cartel Recordings / System Recordings /
Contagious Musiq) - USA
‘98, ‘99, & ‘00 World DMC Champion
FULL PARTY ROCKIN’ AND DMC SET!!

Although born in Nicaragua, DJ Craze -- grew up in Miami, where bass rules hip-hop and scratching is its most eloquent expression. Craze is one of the most accomplished of turntablists, with over a dozen competition titles to his name, including a record three consecutive World DMC Championship titles. His first album, Crazee Musick, was released on San Francisco's Bomb Hip Hop in 1999. A second solo album, Scratch Nerds, was released in 2002, but solo scratch sagas aren't Craze's only credits. He's also a member of turntable crew the Allies. Be prepared for a full out mash ups of the best party rockin’ sounds only the way Craze can!

MC Armanni (Metalheadz / Gasm / Taciturn / Substitution) - USA

His introduction to drum and bass was an experience shared by many first timers; Sutpens' Jungle, February 2000. His first mixtape was "DJ SS live at Sutpen's Jungle" on which the vocal skills of MC Skibadee gave Armanni insight to the lyrical potential of drum and bass. Sighting MC Skibadee as one of his influences, Armanni has developed a distinctly powerful and diverse style of lyrical delivery which has garnered respect amongst his peers as well many of the top dnb mcs and djs in the World. Staying true to his hip hop roots, Armanni delivers bounce, flavor and lyrical wizardry!

DJ SoulKid vs Biscuit (Afterdark Records, Divine Sound
Intervention, Goodbeat) - USA

We are proud to bring this duo back!! Having played several 2x4 and tag team sets in the Seattle area, SoulKid and Biscuit have proven to be a strong Breaks duo that has delivered the breakbeats to move the crowd and rock the dancefloor from start to finish. Hailing originally from Orlando, FL, SoulKid has made Seattle his homebase for the past three years to push his Funky Florida Breaks sound all along the West coast. Blending the Maimi bass and the female vocal hooks, SoulKid keeps with the trademark of the Florida sound to move the soul. A Seattle native, Biscuit has been bringing the best in breaks to dancefloors throughout the Northwest for the last three years. In this relatively short amount of time, Biscuit has quickly distinguished himself in the Seattle breaks scene with precise mixing and an enormous stage presence. Combining Nuskool, Uk, and Funky Breaks, you get the best of all breaks with Biscuit. From the top two Seattle breakbeat technicians, SoulKid and Biscuit will drop the cuts that will take dancers through a journey of breakbeat heaven.

where in the P.C. exactly is area three going to be located? I'd hate to see one of those djs in the weird outside hallway area because then it would be one big gross trainwreck and kind of not worth the $ to get in.
