Lyrics Born, K'naan and Mike Relm @ Commodore
pretty sweet show :)
got there just after 9pm, commodore looked good as usual. mike relm was amazing. everything i already heard at shambhala, but that was to be expected as he's promoting his new CD. i could watch that guy for hours and still be entertained. so talented and hilarious. enjoyed the Led Zeppelin encore. K'naan was a surprise as i'd never heard him before. really enjoyed the intelligent lyrics and the bongo drums. Lyrics Born was good. that chick is an incredible singer. heard some good and familiar tunes. he made the crowd shout things too many times, though. once is good, twice is alright, three times my voice hurts and i'm tired of yelling 'YEAH'. still so pissed i never got my mike relm DVD signed. mike and jarman i envy you guys. and mikey thanks for the ride home. your truck is as big as my apartment. haha. |

last night was fun...love the commodorm...
i was disapointed with the lack of time mike relm played for, cuz he was who i can too see....It was dope when the curtains reopened and he dropped one last led zeppelin track... pigion john was gangster..wish he would been on a bit later than earlier.... I fuckin loved K'naan...I didn't know who he was till he came on stage....I heard some of his songs and story on much music.... his show was very happy feel good for me.... and lyrics born was awsome...I was very intoxicated by this point tho.... Nice to see everyone... JAke: Hi!!!!!....I didnt get a chance to holla at you last night..sso..hi! |

I was also really disapointed with the amount of time Mike Relm got. I thought it was bullshit especally since the pre-show at atlantis he played for the same amount of time. I over heard a lot of people say they were only there for Mike Relm...He need at least an hour.

Overall, it was a really entertaining show. Like a good DJ needs good track selection, a good promoter needs good talent selection. This was deffinetly the case last night. Each act was unique and awesome in thier own right. However, I'm with the others when they said Mike Relm deserved more.
NEXT UP PENDULUM! |

All the acts were dope. I thought K'naan was very good, but not the best choice. All the other acts were really energetic and hype and he was much chiller. The crowd really got into a lull during his set. I don't think it's BS that Mike Relm didn't get more time. This wasn't a Mike Relm show and there were so many acts on the bill in a short amount of time (we can thank the city of Vancouver for that), I really wasn't suprised by the short sets. LB killed it as usual, loving the full band he's touring with. Overall it was a great show so big ups to spectrum for another job well done. Ya large son, LARGE.

The Mike Relm shortage suck mainly for me because I went out on Wedsday to see him at the Pre-set and he played a short set there. At that show they pumped the Sunday show like it was going to be bigger and longer (which it wasn't).
Now this sucks more because if i knew we was coming on the 12th I would have saved my money and seen him then... A couple little things that i will also nit pick at are: Wedsday was advertised for $5 nothing saying "advanced" or "more at the door" but the show cost $10.... ....? The Pre-sale ticket for sunday night was $34 but at the door it was $31 .... ....? Sunday night state on the flyer the show is over at 12:30 |

Relm probably would have got more time if the city had been willing to grant an extension to 2AM on the Sunday show.
On the other hand, if Lyrics Born hadn't come on till like 12:45, I would've had to leave halfway through his set, because I was exhausted. No complaints from me, except maybe about the sound (why the hell can't you rely on the commodore when it comes to stuff like this?... supposed to be THE live venue in Vancouver) PS ---> Lyrics Born = Koala or Panda? |
