why is it that spectrum ALWAYS brings in decent talent, but they always book on odd days and never on a friday or saturday night?

ps. i know the answer to my own question, because it costs more.

- 99% of venues can fill the room themselves on fridays and saturdays promoting in-house with top 40 music or something that appeals to the masses. As a result, they tend to develop a regular crowd. to let an outside promoter come in would see them losing their doorsales and making roughly the same at the bar if an amount of people equal to that which they regularly draw shows up. as well, they might scare away regulars like buffy and brad who come to hear britney and justin. if they show up one week and hear drum & bass and dont understand it, they might not show the following week based on a bad experience.

- the only rooms that allow outside promoter events on fridays and/or saturdays (non-early shows) are the commodore, plush and sonar. 2 out of those 3 rooms are too big for aphrodite.

- some events are routed with only one or two days to choose from...i.e if z-trip is on a tour bus and is playing eugene sunday, portland monday and seattle wednesday, vancouver is stuck with tuesday, much as i would love fior the bus to drive back for a fridays show


it is every promoters best interest to book a show on a weekend
