it was my first time seeing him and to be honest I was a little dissappointed. What was with letting the records run out then just putting in another track? I guess I might have been expecting too much.
The good part about last night was it reaffirmed for me how shitty that venue is. Shitty service at the bar...especially when you get short changed by the bartender, not to mention not being allowed outside to smoke. But this is nothing new. Defiinately looking forward to Capital J tonight. Should be a sloppy good time. |

.....
Freaky Flow has lost his way.... He's not the same now that Flipside has gone solo. You can see it in his performance. With his head hung low and bottom lip stuck out, playing mostly tracks with mc lyrics.. I think he even played that bounty hunter track "Fire" twice!

and i think atlantis is a great venue. it sounded fine to me, not blasted, but i like my hearing thanks. i find it TOO loud sometimes. and bartenders are generally as shitty as the tips (or lack thereof) you give them. i had snappy service all night. |

thought his set was ok, nothing spectacular, but solid. scratching was turned up too loud in the mix, and not exactly mindblowing turntablism, but he kept the flow going and people dancing. i heard ill-esha rocke dit too, but missed that.
he didn't have any tunes that blew my mind, mainly played classics or stuff that any dj in town had in their bag, or his own d&b remixes of eighties tunes (i assume the Karma Chameleon remix was his own) don't think i heard any hot unreleased dubs. and the last tune he played, the aphrodite dub plate of "original nuttah" is total f#cking garbage, what a horrible tune. it was only ever supposed to be for aphrodite's personal use, shy fx BEGGED aphrodite not to release it, and disowned it when he did, for good reason. still the kiddies liked it. it's so nice when i'm flyering a drum and bass show and half the people walking out were like "who are chase and status?" |

though you must admit, a large portion of the people in there werent a dnb crowd, so much as an atlantis crowd. |
