^ Hype shouldn't run the prices through the Roof.

We just had an amazing show at Guvernment with 8 MASSIVE Headliners and at the Door it was $70. Tons of hype and a wild Party from what my Friends told me... still less than what you folks are paying for a couple mid-range DJs. heh Just a 3rd Party View on things. ;)

You don't even want to compare that.

That just goes to show how overpriced the Venue is or how much the Promo Company can expect to squeeze from your Pockets.

Even small Shows with only one part of the Guv are about $30. I paid $35 to see DJ Friction and DJ Zinc in the same night. Never do you see two bigguns like that for that Price out West.

I guess I'm just spoiled. lol

I used to wonder the same thing, Erik. The truth is huge venues like the government that hold thousands of people, are able to do shows like this because they make a huge amount of money on liquor sales. The average clubber pays $50 for big shows there (which is comparable to some club shows here) but then they spend another $50 on drinks. The Government doesn't have added costs like one-off city licenses/permits and they don't have to pay $1000/head for police at these events.

About the Liquor Sales though, the Show on the Weekend was all-ages. So the majority of those people weren't buying booze but in fact filled with everything but. I've been to a couple Shows at the Orange Room (one part of the Guvernment) and it's pretty fucking sketchy at 6am. Worse than some Parties I've been to in Vancouver actually.
