KENNY KEN - Saturday Sept 30
Saturday September 30, 2006
Ruff House and Sasquatch Drummer Presents: Room One: KENNY KEN United Kingdom From the hardcore madness of the Labyrinth and Crazy Club to the junglist domination of World Dance and AWOL, Kenny Ken has been at the forefront of the UK's breakbeat revolution. His DJ sets have earned him the mix n' blend moniker worldwide. Having been in the game for nearly a decade, Kenny Ken is a true ambassador for jungle music. During his time he has earned respect throughout the scene and enjoyed almost universal popularity with the massives for his diverse and entertaining DJ sets. "When I first began DJing, it started off as a gimmick thing really. I wasn't setting out to be a top DJ or anything, because in those early days it was all new to me - I was off the street and straight into DJing. I didn't know which direction I was going in... all I knew is that I could play two tunes." Kenny Ken became one of the UK's more recognized drum'n'bass DJ's during the mid-to late '90s, after a solid 10 years since he first started Djing. He rose to prominence with "Everyman" in 1994, his first big track. From there on he became resident for Labyrinth and so the work flowed, leading him all over the world and on to his regularshow on kiss fm. On his travels he has captured the crowds on a regular basis in Australia, Japan, Toronto, America, not to mention Germany, Holland, Switzerland and many more. As well as being a versitle DJ, Kenny is also becoming recognized for his productions skills. His label 'Mix & Blend' and its sister label 'Cold Steel', which he runs with his brother Stringray and the G Squad, are pushing him high up on the producing ladder. In 1999 he collaborated with DJ Rap forging labels and forces. Bringing us up to date with their first collaborations 'Brave New World'. Hydra (Formerly Psilocin) FIRST CD Release Bias vs Jimungle Bias - Fixed Fridays - Shadow Jugglers - Bias Group - www.nwdnb.bc.ca If you’ve been down to The Met on Friday nights then you know what Bias is all about. Badass dancefloor smashers. Having been in the Drum n’Bass circuit in Vancouver for 5 years now, Bias is no stranger to rocking the dance. Not only that but with fellow Junglist ‘MP’ has been tearing up the fm airwaves as part of the Shadow Jugglers for 3 solid years(Saturdays 7-9pm 101.9fm/www.citr.ca). Bias is one DJ that just won’t stop pushing the envelope when it comes to getting his unique mixing style across to an audience. Not only that he will be releasing another devastating mix of upfront Drum n’Bass business at this very show!!! Watch the Bass. Scott ‘Jimungle’ Jackson has been in love with electronic music since he was a wee lad. His obsession started in the early 90’s with artists such as The Orb, Aphex Twin, Orbital Underworld and Mouse on Mars – but it wasn’t until 1998 that he decided to buy a pair of decks so he could spread the music he loved. Starting out with the more obscure he began to move towards dance genres through his love of the energy created from the dance floor. He finally made his way to drum and bass where it felt like the music he loved and the music he played for the dance floor clicked together. He has spent his time playing gigs in Vancouver and surrounding area, running club nights, promoting shows, and performing weekly with the Shadow Jugglers. Jimungle has played along side many DnB legends, including Aphrodite, Bad Company U.K., Marcus Intalex, DJ SS, Krinjah, Groovrider, Mathematics, Commix, DJ Hype, Subfocus, Capital J, Friction and many more.
