Help me! I'm drowning!

Anyone know of any good flood recovery places in town?

All this wonderous downpour of rain has led me to discover upon awakening that my basement suite is now flooded. We're about to trek to Home Depot to pick up some gear but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good people that handle this type of crap...

I've had to kill the power to the house, the water's about 3-4 inches and still seems to be climbing.

Any help?

Try Advantage Look em up. Excellent work. My parents house flooded for a few years and no one else seemed to fix the problem. Ended up being that our storm drain was not connected to the city sewer. So all the water sat around the house and forced itself into the basement. Long story short: They fixed the problem and helped us recover the costs by getting the city and developer involved. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT PEOPLE.

I was on this railway bridge above the river 2 weeks ago and you could see dozens of salmon below, just swimming to stay in one spot, could be some of them were laying eggs right there. I wonder if they are still there. Must be really hard for them to fight the current from all that rain water and there would be lots of tree branches and debris coming over them now.

Yep there is tons of debris falling everywhere, a huge tree just knocked down the fence in my back yard. I think my house is ok from the water though, its all sunny now

Well, it looks like the pipe leading out from the sump pump is clogged, and what we had backed up was all sewage. So all our furniture - dressers, bed, shelves, couch - all of it is junk now. And it'll take about 3+ weeks to tear out the floor, fix up the issue and get everything back to normal. So me and the woman are in fully active couch-surf mode while we look for a new place right now. Landlord offered to put us up at the YMCA on Beatty Street, but I'd really rather take my chances on people's couches. So we're gonna chuck our remaining stuff in storage, have our clothes easily accessible and live out of backpacks for a bit.

This last week has been just frikkin' awesome.

I want my bed back. =(

Well, if you don't mind the whole "way the fuck out in Marpole" bit, you got a couch to crash on in my neck of the woods. Heh... you could probably even use the futon, since I'm usually out at night anyways.
