Inconsiderate drivers
So its 6 am and I am walking to the bus stop. There is a red light and the guy in the GMC truck CLEARLY saw me standing waiting for the crosswalk. The light turn green, the GMC speeds up and goes through a HUGE puddle spraying me and some other girl standing at the cross walk.
WTF! Is Vancouver just retarded? First off, I have never seen flooding on streets so bad until I moved here. At the bottem of the hill in COQ flooding was ABOVE side walk level. Vancouver is so worried about building a Candian Line into Richmond moreso then fixing the drainage system of your streets that already exist. Second of all, would you not think "maybe I should slow down when I see ppl walking on the street, they are not as fortunate to have a car, they have to walk and take the bus while its pissing rain and .2 degrees outside, they must be cold, wet, and in horrible moods". Just because you have the luxury of owning a vehicle does not mean you have the right to go through a 3 inch puddle at 60 km an hour. I dont want to go to work wet, I dont want to see other ppl on the street who are innocently waiting for the bus get wet. Yet the fucking jerk in the GMC thought it would be funny to spray us with disgusting muddy water. Thanks! Im sorry I had to vent. |

That has happened to me before on countless numbers, and from that have learned to not stand close to the edge of the cross walk. Not saying that it's right, just saying it's a shame it happened, but yeah, this rain is unusually alot for this time of year and so yeah, the water works are having a hard time keeping up, the water gets drained in the rivers and such, if they are full it doesn't get drained. It's going to get worse though, Saturday is suppose to be bad.

I drive a car. That being said, I want to start by laughing at people who venture outside in this weather and decide that walking and/or bussing is a good idea. I like being dry in my car, and the money spent on the car is well worth being dry during the rainy months of the year.
Also, I love driving through puddles. I always speed up and try to make the biggest spray. I have never had the opportunity for someone to be standing where the puddle is. It would be funny as I always imagine it being done in this weather, but I would feel sorry after. In conclusion.. I love my car. |

I'm sure those of us who don't have a car wake up every morning when it's a fucking monsoon outside and think to ourselves WHAT A GOOD IDEA IT'S GOING TO BE TO GO TO WORK BY WALKING AND TAKING TRANSIT AND SHOWING UP FOR WORK SOAKING WET AND HAVING WET SOCKS ALL DAY AT WORK YAY!!@$ I'm sorry, it doesn't happen that way. That is just the option some people have. |

I work full time, I attend school partl time, and Mommy and Daddy are not there to help me. Hence why I do not have a vehicle of my own.
I believe people who have been blessed with their own way of transportation from day one, whether its mom and dad or your own car OBVIOUSLY do not know how frustrating it is to walk outside every day (rain or shine) and have to worry about whether or not my day is going to ruined by some asshole in a GMC. Yes I went out wet. I dont have time to go home and change then go back to work. TIME IS MONEY, something I do not have alot of. I just want to know why you, Carrie, feel its ok to ruin somones day because you cant slow down 5 kms to make sure the poor person having to walk in the rain, doesnt get wet. Why do people think its funny? or its ok? What if that was you? Cuz one day, it probally will be. Last edited by Pussy*Kat; Nov 18, 06 at 11:32 PM. |

In the post, I said that while driving fast in puddles I've never.. NEVER had someone standing by in the splash. I like the splash.. not splashing a person. If I did see a person I would not drive intentionally into the puddle. It is just a funny imagine. If you do not find this humourous then thats your humour and mine is different from yours. I have my car, I will mostly always have my car. Don't hate me for it. |

It's not my fault that I have a car and others don't. OTHERS use me for my car when I do not wish to drive them. I do not get gas money when it's usually offered because I am not one to BEG for the money. If you don't like me because I like having my car and I find it amusing that ppl have to be outside in the rain then am I the worse person or are you just jealous? |

It's just the arrogant attitude that everyone thinks walking hunched over in the rain wrestling an umbrella out of the wind stepping in puddles cramming onto damp buses and arriving at our destination wet and grumpy is a "good idea" that makes you sound like a twat. |

I'm very aware of how much it sucks to not have a vehicle. |

How do you know she isn't paying her own tuition and books, in order to avoid student loans? Maybe that's where she's putting her "extra" money. Or how about having other things to pay, like rent? On top of all that, even if one is able to save up to buy a car.. you don't seem to have included all the other costs of the car. The cost of insurance, gas, repairs, parking, etc... Even if someone can save up the money over time to buy a car, doesn't mean they'll always have the cash for all the other expenses that come along with it. |

I know a couple people though that work full time, go to school part time, pay rent and still have a car - with no help from their parents. Which is why the "Mommy and Daddy are not there to help me. Hence why I do not have a vehicle of my own" gets to me, they made choices that have left them without a vehicle |
