Speakerphone

In an open concept setting in any office environment is not only distracting, but rude and disrespectful.

Yeah man, I hear yah, speaker phone is awkward, disruptive and you find out stuff you don't need to know

I only ever use speaker phone when it's in an office in which everybody in the room is involved in the conversation.

And we make effective use of the "mute mic" button. Usually so we can poke shots at various Microsoft employees.

I agree with that. But most companies have boardrooms for such things. Go be on speaker behind a closed door.

If someone were to be using speakerphone on the floor I'd probably be shooting evil glances in their direction...
