If this person is so bad with their money that they need to borrow money from their friends (who probably are no richer than they), how can you really expect them to be any better with paying you back.

if you wanna keep your money, dont "lend" it to people who are bad with money. it's pretty obvious.

My friend owes me $250. It's not a lot of money, but she has a history of defaulting on her loans. She promises she will pay me back...
I hear about people owing money and then dissapearing all the time. In the UK, they call it a "runner." Basically, running away from a financial obligation. Once in a while, I pull a runner on people, but for the most part I conduct business with honor. It's not so big a deal to fuck over a corporation or a serious asshole, but if it's just a regular Joe or a friend, than I think Karma will be the judge of you.

you should just make a post in the classifieds section where you say you're going to sell all sorts of stuff that's important to you. then you can have lots of people bump your ego and get someone else to lend you money because, lets face it, it's gonna be hard to actually get that money back.

When I was on my way to Van, I loaned a buddy $500 to save his neck. He owed the wrong dude money.. I know I'll never see it, and I don't care. The way I see it is, I only lend close friends a large amount of money but I never ever expect to get it back. I don't put money between friends.

i've had to learn the hard way not to lend ppl money. you just have to come to realize that they'll NEVER pay you back! i think i had one freind pay me back ever. and it took him 8 months @ $20 at a time to get me $300! if you're a good friend, i'll lend you $20 now and then... but NO MORE large amounts!
