Ticket Sales for shows....
I know this has been bitched about for years and it seems like nothing ever changes so I'm gonna bitch again! Actually bitch isn't the right word... I'm going to ask politely!
Promoters... besides private ticket sellers why are there no locations for ticket sales outside of DT Vancouver? I realize there aren't a lot of record stores outside of the core but could they not be sold at say a skate shop or some little indie coffee house? ANYWHERE!?!?!?! I'm assuming it's either one of two things... utter laziness (too much work for the promoter) or a complete lack of stores willing to help slag tickets. I mean it's not like I can't get into DT... I do have a car and I can drive out there easily enough but it always sucks to realize you've got to go on a 2 to 3hr ordeal just for tickets for a show. What I wouldn't do to have a store is Coquitlam sell some damn tickets!! So yeah... not so much a rant as a genuine question. Is it really that tough to find local businesses in some of the out lying areas to sell tickets? |

That isn't necessarily true. Replay in Abbotsford is our biggest ticket seller. Bigger than Laramy and Boomtown.

^I have picked up tickets at both Paul's Boutique and at Replay in the past.
I don't mean to come off sounding like I'm bitching... more so than anything else it's just a question as to why. I'm still gonna make the trek into town if I have to but it sure would be nice is all I'm saying. |

I agree pauls is a good place.
I would go to twice as many shows as i do now if I didnt have to trek downtown to get them. I can buy a ticket at lets say 20 dollars 3 weeks ahead of the show. In order to save ten dollars I would have to drive to vancouver to buy the ticket, drive home, and when the event arrived I would drive back, and home again. Woo Hoo I saved 10 dollars just so I could spend it on gas. Good thing I don't do this. Instead I just hang out with all my "would be concert goer" friends in Slurrey. |

With outskirt stores -- we simply haven't seen any kind of quantity (sometimes 10 tickets only) of tickets move.
And one word as well -- ONLINE. Since our tickets have moved online, tickets are accessible to anyone, anywhere. -- This is also why we stopped shipping tickets to Platinum in Seattle. PS: for certain raves, we will have tickets out in the valley. Case and point, PINK tickets are at Replay in Abby. Cheers. |

i can see rave promoters selling out there, but for downtown clubs i'm sure it just isn't necessary. peeps in the burbs who really want to go can buy online. most of these clubs aren't trying to encourage a more suburban crowd anyways, unfortunate as that may be for suburbanites who don't fit the stereotype.

hahahaha.... I didn't realize that the only important people lived strictly DT! I'm sure I'd fit in just fine with the yuppies there but I can't afford to own DT either. I guess my choice of moving and buying in Coquitlam made me a nobody! Sorry Wood, I'm just trying to make light of the situation, but wow..... I just didn't realize that the stereotype was so deep rooted that us SUBURBANITES don't even matter. |
