I went through the whole Red Bull/Rockstar/Full Throttle phase in my day as well but that didn't end up good for me. After taking those drinks on a daily basis for about a full month, I started getting anxiety and panic attacks. Maybe some of you remember my post about my anxiety and panic attacks and since then I have figure out that these energy drinks were the cause of them.
And although I haven't touched a single one of those drinks in months now - I still get the anxiety and panic attacks ever since - it's rough. Maybe this doesn't apply to any of you but I think that caffeine/stimulant ingredients have messed up my brain chemistry for a while to come. My brother had the same problem from drinking strong coffee on a daily basis for a few months. Thought I'd just share my experience with energy drinks so that none of you don't get to experience what I did with them! |

^^lol caffeine + downbeat = raver
If you're at home, a better solution would be www.di.fm + ambient/classical channel playing at a low volume in the background. That'll relax you and make you a bit less distracted with other things you might have on your mind at the time. Ginseng root is a good stimulator - better than caffeine... and a lot healthier! |

ADD? ADHD?
Strange enough I seem to read and focus best when im moving (bus/plane) or in a very plain place that isnt cluttered. I would of thought studying in the library would work for me, but it didnt. I got distracted and would watch ppl going by etc. For me and what I notice with a lot of other students who lose focus are computers/lap tops. Maybe its just more fun or maybe its the bright light that keeps my eyes on my work. Could also be your diet. Brian food = fish oils. Stay away from sugary foods and white carbs. They will make your energy rise and fall to quickly and youll end up sleepy. Stick to whole grains, fruit and veggies. Drink things like coffee, tea, and energy drinks LIGHTLY. They always help me, but if I have too much Ill have too much energy and my mind will move too fast and I wont be able to concentrate. Give your self breaks. Its ok to take a break physically and mentally. Otherwise youll burn your self out or continue in a frustration circle. A 5 min break every hour/half hour is what I would often take. Less than 10% of the population can actually work better listening to music. I dont, except maybe to classical or dnb with out vocals. Make the way you study more fun. Personally im very visual and like to make my notes in a more diagram/map/visual way. Try and highlight! Supposedly it doesn't actually help, but it makes my mind LOOK for the information and makes studying more titatic. Fix your posture, exercise. Having a healthy body physically can also help you mentally when it comes to studying and focusing. I honestly think that slouching can lean to a less focused student. there might be some psychological issues..... maybe a lack of motivation? lack of goals and aspirations to work up to? are you in college or university btw? if you're doing a transfer program, the thought of being in a respectable and challenging academic arena would motivate you to work up to that.... but if you're already at university, u might be in a state of dissonance and having a hard time ridding it.... just remember how hard u had to work to get there... and just zone in and do your shit. work that brain hard. focus. love what u do. force yourself out of dissonance!!
but yeah school is tough! college is one thing but university people drop like flies |
