If it ain't broke.... DON'T FUCKING FIX IT!
It's 4:30am.... I was awake at 3:15am so I could be at work. At 3:30am I ventured down into my parking garage, started my car, pulled up to the big garage door aaaaaand COULDN'T GET OUT!
Recently our strata decided to replace our old push button style garage door openers with a fob system. It's just this little tab thing you keep on your key chain and you scan it on a sensor and bingo.... shit happens! While great in theory it has it's flaws... flaws such as not fucking working. According to the strata minutes from last month they actually plan on using this as the sole entry for my building... no more keys at the front door. Now if it worked all the time that'd be great but what if it craps out again like it has this morning and people can't even get into their houses??? I guess I should consider myself lucky that I'm locked in as opposed to out.... but then again I'm not making any money sitting at home either. Like it says in the title... there was nothing wrong with the old system and it always worked. This system? NOT SO MUCH. |

I got the same system in my building.... lets just say that power outages = fun.... Supposively there is supposed to be a backup battery to open the front door just incase if there was a power outage.... however it turns out to be complete bullshit. I don't understand why more and more buildings is using this keyless entry system. Infact criminals have already figured out how to open the doors based an an old concept where essentially they are "frequency dialing" (scans a range of frenquencies to figure out what signal it works off), its and old concept since they used to do it to open garage doors at residences. I don't understand why buildings are just not investing in better locks to which you can't use a "bump key" to gain access. They do exist they are just a little bit more expensive but its worth it.
