mike, what was that website you showed leon & i last spring?
it's long gone from my favourites. it had a bright yellow background & is for in-text referencing rather than works cited referencing. i'm in the research state of a paper right now (i'm pretty much 2 weeks behind on this one...) but i would love to see that link come mid-april when i'm done writing the big dirty. = ) |

I can't remember the last time APA cropped up.....Isn't MLA pretty well the norm for university now (thesis papers in respective fields aside). My HUM 330 class is fine with using any citation style, for example (Humanities method not required).

i've had to use mla for english.
for my major, sociology, i think i've been able to use either the majority of the time. actually, for a lot of my classes, the prof.s have been pretty flexible. but for english, you MUST use mla. (same w/ history...i think.) lol. yea. mla is definately more..."user-friendly." hah. hooray for not properly planning one's time. nah. for the past few semesters or so, i've written down on my calendar what i want accomplished on papers after each week has passed, & for the most part, i've actually stuck w/ it, surprisingly. haha. everyone has their methods that work for them, i suppose. =) |

I'm used to Chicago and doing long footnote citations but with the communications and apa shit it's so easy to do in-text citation and i got a program endnote to format my reference list at the end. The paper i just did wasn't so bad this time.

i never found citings to be too annoying with any of my papers. if you find it too time consuming you're probably citing too much and not articulating your thoughts in your own words enough
