I think its gone and never ever gonna come back, at least to what it once was. Theres been too much goodwill lost now, after being down for almost a year. The domain cant even be sold for it's raw traffic anymore.
Apparently they're working on some new custom .lx engine to re-release, some people have said they have seen it. There were some ideas going around about "pay-per-use" or something but I think that the prospects of that working put the nail in the coffin.
WHP offered to lease loungex.com at prorated domain and forwarding costs, and operate it for the community on a redirect to a message board specifically for that purpose, until the new LX was finished or they were ready to use the domain for something again. Nobody at Electronic Rush seemed interested in keeping the goodwill of the loungex.com name up by keeping something, anything, operating on that domain other than a down page.
After doing a bit of research, electronic rush's website is down, along with supabunny, and some of the other sites. I think Al had the biscuit and is going to move on to something else now. He's put in enough work, money, and effort for the scene in his time, perhaps he figures he'll pass the torch to others now. (?)
If there was solid interest in keeping LX to be the premier Vancouver underground board/domain, then an offer on a silver platter of open-ended leasing a redirect to a temporary LX board (until the coding delays were completed for the new engine) would have been given a bit more consideration, IMO; especially if money was concern enough to consider a pay-per-use structure. With all the goodwill that LX has lost so far, even the prospect of banner ads for some retribution is out the window until it's user-base and traffic rebuilds, which could be 6-12 months away at best.
I dont know what Al's plans are, this is all speculation. I just know what I know and form my opinions based on that.
