Stupid Provincial Courts
I went down to tha provincial courts down town on Hornby street for my appearance on my posession charge today. The stupid fuckers forgot to put my name on tha list, so now I gotta wait for a summon to come in tha mail. Which now means I'm gonna go back there another day and all thats gonna happen there is another appearance date to be set for me to go back again. My lawyer also told me that the Burnaby R.C.M.P has so many files to deal with and that my chrage isn't even close to being processed yet. This is gonna take a long time...........tha fucken government alwayz takes their sweet ass time when doin shit.

I'm sure I'm anxious to get convicted (sarcasm)........its just that today was a waste of time, I could have worked and made money or at least slept in. Its good in a way that their this slow cause my lawyer said that they got so much shit to deal with that they just might wave it off.
And fuck if I do get convicted of posession, it won't be shit. I'm a young offender and its my first offence. Last edited by Guice_39; Aug 26, 02 at 12:06 PM. |

You know that if it takes too long that your lawyer can ask to have the charge dismissed as you were not entitled to due process within a reasonable timeframe.
I don't know how backlogged the RCMP are but you should ask your lawyer about that option and if it is realistic or not. |

If you were a minor when the offence occured you have nothing to worry about . When your record is cleared when you become an 'adult' just make sure you call the RCMP and make sure the records are disposed of . Sometimes they won't do it unless you ask . They will either destroy them or send them to you so you can do as you please .
Even if you weren't a minor and were convicted of possesion the penalties are not very severe . If it is your first offence they will allow you to apply for a diversion program . This means you will do a certain amount of community service and write an essay or a letter of apology for wasting their time , shit like that . Diversion is a way of dealing with minor offences such as possesion outside the court system , if convicted the charge will remain on your record but will only be accesible by police on CPIC ( national criminal database thingymajigger ) and not by anyone else . Disposition for a minor summary conviction ( possesion ) is 5 years I think . Anyway ... Just some information for you . Your lucky you were a minor when you got caught . |
