Acouple weeks ago I went to a workshop which focused on Aboriginals in the sex-trade. I'll look at this book and tell you the statistics as soon as I get home(I'm not at home right now).

But as far as I know there were plenty of underage children, 15 who were willing to give up sex for free back in the day, and much more now. I wish there were not prostitutes because think of the life that they went through, very fucking difficult, most likely they were sexually abused as children, led falsely, and now addicted to hard drugs. No one wishes for a life of hardship, but alot have to lead it. And I'd treat prostitues with a little more respect if I were you. *sigh* To my final point no one wants to lead a life where they don't know whether they're going to be alive or dead one moment.

there seems to be a slight change in the recent post on how you feel about hookers. come on. they have had a rough enough life. just let them do their job. just let them do what they do best. suck a mean cock. and whatever. its like how some vegetarians would tie themselves to a cow and scream. the majority of people working the sex trade are not doing it for some extra cash for the weekends. the VAST majority of the people working in the sex trade didn't even WANT to live thier lives that way.

the common hooker starts her 'career' at the average age of FOURTEEN. that's average. if you think a choice made at the age of 14 should ruin your entire life you're either ignorant, sheltered, stupid or a combination of the 3.

usually, they are seduced from high schools/pool halls by 'really cool' slightly older guys. trough lies or free drugs or love these men delude them into the girls being devoted to them.

usually at this point, under the guise of 'running away together' or by force the sex-worker is trucked off to an entirely different city to reduce chances that they can contact thier old families or friends. at this point the 'cool boyfriend' uses his influence of words/fists/drugs to force the worker to turn thier first trick 'just once... he's a cool guy'.

the hooker is now kept in a constant state of being high/beat to keep them submissive and too afraid to go anywhere else.

after a while some workers are able to escape pimps through outreaches and kind johns. most of the old skank hookers you see are still turning tricks because its the only marketable skill they've ever been able to learn, or because they are too addicted to a high cost coke/heroin habit they cant turn anywhere else.

so easy it is to codemn things that are joked at, misunderstood, and glossed over by mainstream media and popular culture.

Most youth were abused(verbally, physically, emotionally, and sexually) for most of their lives, and have experienced sexual abuse and activity from a very early age. Which than lead to low self-esteem. WerdyBoY was correct the aver age of entry into sexual exploitation is 14. I won't repeat alot of the background characteristics of sexually exploited people are correct.

Alot of the people who do prostitution do it for the money whatever it may go towards, or be bartered for. And alot of the woman(and men) do not neccesarily like sex, but they do it to survive. As werdyboy said they don't have very admirable social skills, and lack of work skills. Also from the lack of self-esteem most feel they have no where else to turn, and the only thing that they are good for is a good quick lay. And they are so deep into the network of sexual exploitation that there is no resources(like Save the Children Canada and Out From the Shadows Program) which they can turn to, to successfully get out. It's not a fucking made for tv movie! This is happening all across the world. And I feel ashamed that our First World country is still sufferring from many forms of abuse. But Canada is built on exploitation of resources.

And stabmyhead, I was speaking personally and out of turn because as I said I was mad and sad in my initial post. Which is clearly visible! I feel very sad for them. But very mad because of my personal experiences. Which I am not going to share publically.

yeah i'm with vesperstina on this one. I fell bad for them cuz very few actually choose that life. It's not like "oh, i think i'll be a hooker today". My mom has done work on trying to help prevent it and learning about it and stuff so i kinda know more about what really happens. Many are sexually abused as children so they're already kinda messed and they didn't choose that. Its young girls with low self-esteem that get drawn in to it by 'pimps' and before its too late, they're trapped, addicted to crack, and don't know how to get out. or its the only way to feed themselves.

Yup, BeatItFarmer. THe organisation which my mom works at helps youth who come off the street. THey do alot of cool stuff for native youth.

In one of my classes we were talking about hookers and how fucking rowdy they are. And how many dirty fucking men there are out looking for sex. Like all around the East Side. It's happened to me since I was 12, but I just tell them to fuck off.

blah, it would be dope if there were more common bauty houses. And less sex-trade workers on the street. Although it wouldn't solve everything, but it would cut down considerably.
