At least know how to turn on a turntable!
So yesterday I made a trip into town and stopped by beatstreet to see if they had anything good. So I shuffled through a bunch of shit and broad it to the listen booth area. Anyways There was this gemini turntable that they had there thad I first tried to use but it had some messed up motor problem... It was literally jumping all over the place. So I decided to turn that one off and go to another one that worked fine that was right in front of it. So I am listening to a track and some guy picks up it looks like to be some used $3.00 special lp . Anyways he can't seem to understand why when he presses the start/stop button its not working.... so he proceeds to try and spin the platter at 45 manually using his finger..... I had to tell him "The turntable is not on...."
So he presses the start button again.... I had to show him the little knob dial to turn on the turntable. So now he is listening to this track that he should be listening to it at 45 opposed to 33 and I am watching this platter jump all over the place. He so he moves the stylus to go through the track but instead of actually lifting up the tone arm he literally drags it across the record.... Now I don't know if this guy was high or anything... certainly didn't seem like it. But in any place if your going to go into a vinyl shop, atleast know how to turn on a got damn turntable..... christ....... |
