The worst is "oh, I know exactly what you mean" because it always leads to them relating a past problem which, in reality, doesn't make them come off as any more understanding or compassionate. Venting should be one-sided. Otherwise it's just circulation.

But that's just.. well you know.. my opinion.

To an extent I agree, but I think it is healthy for venting to start 'circulating', I am so thankful for all the times I've tried to vent to people and they've called me on my shit and made me think about things from a different perspective.

Opinions are like assholes after all, so only vent to people whose opinions and perspectives on things you value.

I think when someone has to pour their heart out.. it is best left undiluted. Let them vent and then if you have problems, vent... then drink heavily.

What i mean is, that if you go talk to someone about something to get their advise on a situations but something about it, has already made them form an opinion. Your not really goin to talk to somn one with an open mind.

good advice comes from people who can relate to your problem. Its hard for someone to relate to a topic and not have an opinion on it.
