i'm not too sure, but i think icq might dynamically assign local ports to connect.
your firewall might be only configured for a small range of what is availiable. go into your icq options and there should be an option in there that allows you to specify which outgoing ports you want to use. it sounds like it's just timing out, and when you do get online it's because it found an availiable port. |

thanks, I'll try that as soon as this stubborn thing loads :y: The funny thing is kimmie and I both have accounts on the same cpu/OS but icq loads perfectly for her and I endure the long delays. Since i've read and posted this message icq is still sitting there doing nothing. |

true. java is sandboxed, in theory. so i don't think it'd be able to read/write things on your harddrive.
but you'd just use it to see if it worked or not. if it worked right away, you'd know it was a firewall problem as icq2go uses http. you could rule out the server as being the issue. |
