Put it in a garage...if possible. Other than that, keep it out of Surrey. Haha.... :kam:

Seriously though, we (my bf and I) didn't have any problems with our rims ever getting stolen or anyone even attempting to steal them. We had people break in once for a pack of smokes, another time for subs, another time for more subs, and lastly, for 10 cans of COKE. I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep the receipts (if you have any) and don't keep anything of sentimental value in the car.

*Jen*

YAY! I don't even have to worry about car theft for now because we sold the RX-7 the other day!!!!

im miss worry! im scared of it gettin stolen, towed, didn't lock it, hit... whole works. i was real close in gettin my car towed the other day, but did some sweet talking (yes i went that low) to get out of it. my sister cars lacks the alarm right now, but we're gettin it installed soon, but really what would an alarm do...its still gonna get broken into. god damn asian cars that are easy to break into....i swear if my car was all fancied up i would need my eyes on it 24/7. i feel ya!

My car has a few anti-theft "devices" in it.

For one, it's a Ford. and a Festiva at that.
secondly, It's green on the outside with Pink decorations on the inside. And Hello Kitty at that.

If I had the car I wanted, at the moment, I'd be constantly worried about it getting stolen. But that car is just a far off dream. *sigh*.

almost weekly on a mustang forum i go to, someones car get's upped. no matter what you do to your car (club, alarm, ignition kill) a thief can always take it.

i, myself, do a couple things to help make it unpleasant for the thief. i really don't park it much of anywhere for any amount of time and at home it's in the garage.

get your starter replaced with a chip key starter. then they can't steal it, unless they tow it. but if you let your car get towed by theives, then you deserve it.

i am hella worried! everytime i park my car in a not so visible street in downtown

i have an immobilizer and a club, so i'm thinking they can't really steal the car (well a professional professional could)

and i don't keep any belongings visible, to make it less of a target

you drive a pos volvo sean heh i wouldn't care if that thing got stolen either.

My car has alarm, immobilizer, hoodlocks to prevent alarm cutting, Both the door laws are broken so keyless entry only, tint on all windows so they wont shatter, everything is bolted down in VERY hard to reach ways, and the rims have 16 lock-nuts on them. Its far from impossible to steal my car, but its definately not easy.

Besides that, the thing is a heat-score. Loud exhaust and intake, and attracts alot of attention.

Tim... if you have rim just install a set of lock nuts and make sure you don't keep they key in the trunk.

For car security, put in starter kill or for those that are a bit more talented make a black box that does a one shot clutch kill.

Fuel line interruption is a good thing to have, you can also install a fog generator inside the cabin so the theif can't see anything.

And the best security device of them all was suggested by my brother-in-law: Install some blacklights inside your vehicle and drop a few scorpions inside your ride. Since they will glow to the blacklight and people will see them no one is going to try breaking in.

winston, he HAS to keep the locknut key in his trunk
how the hell is he gonna put on the spare if he gets a flat?
He needs to tint his windows, or at LEAST isntall security film on them.

Or just hide your key well.
very well.

IMO putting tint on 2 of the 4 windows in a sedan looks weird.

You don't need to keep it in the trunk. There are creative ways to hide things in the cavities of a car if one is willing to go the extra step.

all this can be passed.... it's simple
if a thief wants your car, it's his

it's all about making it a pain in the ass... then he'll move on to the next one who only as an alarm.

most nice cars these days are stolen by a tow truck. all they have to do is back up to you (without even getting out) press buttons so the lift goes under the car.... lift it up. and drive off. it's that simple. if you turn your wheels and put a club on ... it's only a matter of like 40 seconds for a tool to break it.

i'm not too worried about my car getting jacked.
i have an alarm, starter kill, and my key has a chip in it which works with the starter kill.

i just never park somewhere where i feel uncomfortable.

That statistic (the one about Civics being #1 on the hit list) is a little skewed.

Civics are probably one of the most if not the most numerous cars out there in the greater Vancouver area, so of course there will be more Civics being stolen because there are just plain more out there.

Hope that eases your paranoia a little bit. :)

if he's worried about gettin tickets for tint on front side windows
then he can get transparent security film

I limo tinted the windows on my SUV and the small quarter panel one keeps on shattering. :(

I should install a motion activated gilloutine in those windows for the fuckers that climb in.
