No I Can't Speak Chinese!

yes, there have been posts like these before. but now it's my turn to rant.

I'd just like to point out that it's extra annoying when you speak chinese to me when you know english. when you say *random words in chinese* and I reply with a "HUH?" *blatantly canadianized accent*, please do no continue speaking chinese to me.

I remember going to see my honger optometrist and my stupid dad wouldn't stop talking chinese to her. so basically, they'd be speaking in chinese to each either ABOUT MY CONDITION and then he'd translate it back to me in english.

and MY OPTOMETRIST KNOWS HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH!

why can't you just speak the language that everyone knows how to speak?

GEEEEEZUUUUUUUUS!!!

and when I complain to my dad he just tells me "well, you're too lazy to learn chinese"

YOU IDIOT! whenever I ask him "what does this word mean", he'll reply "you just wanna say bad words to the hongers! " and won't answer me.

i hate having a chinese last name because everyone assumes im chinese...
im getting it changed to my moms maiden name soon.

the thing is, I wasn't even born in this country!! I was born in the Philippines... and my dad only knows cantonese because my grandfather sent him to Hong Kong for school.

I feel your pain Joanne....=) Although, in my case, I understand most Cantonese, I just can't speak it. I've past the point though, where I wish to God I had made a larger effort to learn it when I was younger. It would make life a little more interesting, and maybe open up a few more doors. But I can't learn it right now...I'm too old...or something. :kam:
