Im currently waiting on the phone to cancel my free weekends cuz it costs about 55 for free weekends with my plan right now. what a ripoff eh?

i fucking HATE fido. my phone has the worst reception ever. when i actually NEED my phone, i can't use it because it has no service. and you're right...it costs a LOT. i used to be on fido matic but then i switched plans and for the past...ohhh...few weeks, my phone hasn't even been working. it fucking LAAAAACKS...i want to burn my phone. seriously. i am going to literally burn it...

fido sucks ass man i had a fido before its not worth it if your going on a monthly plan...even if your pay as u go its a shitty deal....its 55 to have free weekends when u can go to rogers and have it for like 25 a month and that gets u free weeknights and weekends with 150 minutes.....what im choked about i have that plan and i got it like 2 months ago and im paying 35 i wanna no if i can change it to that plan???

well... here's my take.

this is what you are paying for with fido.

currently, fido has the most advanced network in canada, and probably north america. they are always first to offer new technologies to thier customers, and thier phones are always top of the line.

also, there is no contract with fido, and when you buy a phone from them it is extremely cheap.

people with reception problems usually have them due to cheap nokia 5190s and the like. fido's network is actaully very strong, as long as you don't have a shit phone.

if you don't need these things or can't afford them, then by all means go to another carrier without the bells and whistles fido has. fido was never meant to be a budget phone carrier.

as for procomng, you people should read your contracts.

it is 20 bucks for each 200 minute plan of the month (400 minute plan, $40, 600 minute plan is $60)

evenings and weekends costs $15.

i talk on my phone all the time for work and such, and i never go over 400 minutes w/ evenings and weekends... for peronsal use i dont see why you guys should need to pay more than $35 bucks.

i love my swanky fido phone. but then again my company pays for my $80 plan.

Well it's true that Fido has nice phones and offers a good network, but the thing that sucks about it is it only covers certain areas. I took my phone to the interior and it didn't work past Whistler... it didn't offer service at kamloops, Kelowna and 100 mile house (i guess cuz their out in the boonies)
and the free weekends option is 15 dollars extra so with the 200 mins it's 35. plus taxes, plus network charges.. so it totals to 55 dollars. Kinda steep I guess. I bought a fido b/c I don't like being stuck on contracts, but I guess there's a price you have to pay for that. I like my phone, it looks good, and the gsm kicks ass (like getting logos and stuff on ur phone). Buttt other than that...

i pay $58 a month (that's taxes/service charge and what not already included) and i have rogers AT&T...i get 200 daytime minutes, with unlimited evenings & weekends! it's great..plus i have callerID, callwaiting.. 3way (i do'nt really use it.. but it came with it)

but anywayz.. if you go to rogers it's better plans..

so dragon boi..the reason you're paying $35 a month is most likely cuz youd o'nt ahve a 3 year contract right?? I have a one year and i pay $45 a month... my friend has same plan on 3 year contract and pays $35.. sooo.. the price really all depends on the length of the contract...
i wouldn't go for a 3 year contract tho, despite how it makes it cheaper monthly..

but yes.. fido sucks really...well for the average user anywayz.. but i guess if you really need to go contractless then it's your only choice?

my fido bill came in the mail today... $65.28... that's fucking depressing... i can't even get reception in my apartment... BUT i manage to get AMAZING reception in bellingham... BELLING-FUCKING-HAM!!! i can't get reception past chilliwack... but a 45 minute drive past the border, NO PROBLEM!

and did u notice how a couple months ago, they changed the system access fee from a yearly thing, to $6.95 every month... it works out that u end up paying an extra $10 or whatever a year, but fuck... i had it payed off!!! now my bill is $7 more every month!!! sure, they gave me a refund of my yearly fee... big deal, that covered 1/2 of 1 months bill... i'm screwed for every other month...

and frickin' call display... actually, this isn't just about fido... but oh well... everyone's damn phone these days is private... it's bullshit... i've got 3 ppl that call me that don't have a private #... everything else is private... DIE...

and the text messaging/e-mail function shit... WTF IS THE USE OF IT? i haven't been able to send 1 successful message to anyone... i can receive all the fuck i want, but it WILL NOT send anything... i talked to a service rep., they didn't even know what the damn problem was... RETARDS...


i do however like the fact that there's no contract obligations... cuz i got screwed before with a 3 year contract with rogers/at&t... but they were actually pretty good about it, they gave me a free startac after i sent them a letter saying that i hated my phone and wanted out of the contract... hahaha...

with rogers and i only pay 35 dollars and i got the nokia 8260 for 100 dollars after rebate
reception is awsome now that i got the internal antenna booster
i use to get one or no bars in my room i live in the basement of my house and now i get like 2 to 3 bars so im cool with my phone
