Bye Kitty.

*sigh*

I have an inside/outside cat that does as he pleases. He has been with me for just about 2yrs now, so he has plenty of life left in him. He was missing for a few weeks ago but after that he did return to his normal home by 8pm routine. Then he went missing again. He's an extremely friendly cat and very social and will come out to just about everyone. That appears to be his downfall. I haven't seen the cat in awhile and his food disk isn't clearing out so I know something is up.

So, I made some flyers at work and put them into all my neighbours mail box. Around 30mins later this old couple that visually already looks deceased came knocking on my door. They said they have been feeding it and keeping it inside for the last few weeks. I should also explain the house I'm staying at had a tenant that was a complete basketcase and left the upstairs suite in ruins. Thankfully, not my suite but the one above me. She had about four cats and this neighbour thought it was a left over cat that she just left behind.

Wrong!

Here is where I start to flip out. Since they figured the cat was abandoned they called a bunch of animal shelters and found one that was accepting cats. They come over and take my little Newman away. The couple told me they called the shelter a week ago and no one has found a home for him yet. Waahoo, I'm getting excited because he isn't a kitten anymore maybe he'll still be there. No such luck. Today they tell me some middle aged couple has adopted my cat and he isn't there anymore. Its really hard for me to go completely crazy on them for several reasons. They are a sweet, old couple that are spending their final years feeding cats, playing bingo, and telling complete strangers (myself included) uninteresting stories of thier past. They were basically trying to help a cat that they thought had no home which a very rare thing to do. Also, its my own fault for not having a collar on him. In my defence he has had two already and lost them and I haven't got him another one.

This is the punching bag forum and I'm just venting because there really isn't much else I can do. I really miss my cat, but I guess I should be happy at least he didn't die and he is thankfully in a good home. This really sucks though.

Goodbye Newman, you will be tremendously missed. :(

WOW..... dude that really sucks bad. I am so sorry.....

Obviously you know that I can understand, although I never had the satisfaction of knowing what happened to Molson. Newman would have been going on three this year because I got him for you 3 X-mas' ago. I'm suprised you managed to keep your cool with the people. Too bad you never jumped on the flyers a little earlier.

Well Neuman will be greatly missed... I actually have a little lump in my throat here.... I love that cat....

Brad is there anyway you might be able to go to the shelter to find out who adopted your cat and try and appeal to their hearts... see if you can get him back if you pay their adoption fee.... I mean its worth a try and if they realize how much you miss your cat they might give in.

Bring a flyer with you and make them feel bad... I man they'd have to be heartless not to give your cat back to you.

i know how u feel! i live in a townhouse where ur not supposed to have pets but we were able to keep our 3 cats. the landlords decided to look the other way i guess. well 4 yrs later some stupid bastard new neighbor decided that they were gonna blame our cats for pooing in their yard even tho my cats never "went" outside the litter box and so they complained to the landlords and we had to get rid of them. i was sooo pissed! and worst of all my mom didnt even give me a chance to say bye to my little babies she just packed them up and took them to her friends farm one day. i know they are probly having fun but i still miss them and its been 2 yrs since we got rid of them and my mom wont let me visit them cuz she said they will get confused . and guess wat we found out? it wasnt our cats pooping in their yard afterall . I KNEW IT! . it was the ppl on the other side of our neighbors who had a dog and it was the one pooping in their yard. so we had to get rid of our kitties for basically no reason. :soak: anyway just thought id share my story and say i know how u feel and im sorry u lost ur cat.
