If you don't care about the bad karma I give you, don't whine about it publically. I clearly hit a nerve. |

Lets all have a moment of silence, in memory of sammy being on fnk a lot and talking about how unique he is... and how good his fasion sense is.... and how good his taste in music is.... and how great his artwork is..... and how proud he is to be gay.... and his entire massive ego that covered half of vancouver, all together....
Que moment of silence |

let me rant...
when applying for a job/going to an interview for a job you dont bring your "real self" there.. you bring your own semi-fake "perfect self". Managers/interviewees (sp) know that.. and unfortunately its down to how you much you can fake yourself and sound like a kiss ass. Its the beginning of a job and that is what most jobs look for...even a place that has a casual dresscode, they like to know that you can be a kiss-ass/dress professionally if needed. I find it kinda sad how you cant show up as yourself and have just as a high of a chance to land a job... if you dont dress nice and the next person that goes in to apply will be and will get brownie points over you because they did. all about first impression... thats how life works..deal with it. |

my 2 cents....
Sunshyne, you should really think about things a minute before you post...what you couldn't have known was that Sammy was SIXTEEN when this was posted. Obviously everyone has changed a lot since 2001. And no one expects a sixteen year old to apply at the gap in a suit. We are all aware it's important to look nice for a job interview. That is not what is being argued here. |

Exactly. Also... I only *just* clued in that this was from 2001... It was a thread I found on the first page when the *new* FNK came back up. I didn't look at the date it was made on, I posted in it because I had an opinion on the topic at hand. Avana, Myra... others to follow. Go fuck yourselves. You need to get out more. |

^ No. But since it happened, I'll give my two cents. (edit: for Myra's post)
Basically, you should dress for the job. When I interview, I look for candidates who ARE themselves. There is no sense in dressing a different way than you will once you get the job because you'll just disappoint. If someone shows up to one of my interviews wearing dress pants, heels and a blouse, I'm going to think "Do they even like American Eagle? Do they even know what we sell?". The people I hire have to love the brand, and if they don't, they won't wow me. Now, dressing for a "professional" job is a whole different story. But like I said, dress for the job. Dress pants, heels and a blouse definitely are definitely the right call if you're applying for a position in an office etc. |

Yeah.... he was a superfag...
he couldn't be a cool gay guy either, he had to be one of those in your face "IM GAY!" people.. he would always make misleading threads... and then when people give him advice on dealing with the person hes seeing, he'd snap and be like "I WASN'T TALKING ABOUT A GIRL" |

I think if you're going to drop off a resume or for a job interview you should dress nice, you don't need to wear a suit or anything like that but maybe dress pants and a nice top. I alway's did, and still will. I've been hired at places and had them tell me that they were very impressed how I presented myself. I dont think you should go drop of a resume in jean's and a tshirt. Jean's and a dress shirt could work but I still think jean's shouldn't be interview material....

I made the same mistake as sunshyne in not seeing that the thread was OLD, however bottom line, you dress nice for a job.
I think regardless of what job you're applying for, you should have nice dress pants on and a nice shirt. Perhaps even more for a office job, but either way I've always been told, jeans and sneakers are a no no. |
