Women have lower standards than men?

is it just me or does it seem that women have lower standards than men? i was watching that show "ordinary joe" and they only have girls seeking out the ugly guys because i swear there is no way in hell a man would ever go for a "not soo good looking " woman. i always see ugly guys with really pretty women, but never once have i seen a hot guy with a not so attractive woman

hhhmmmmm, i think thats kind of a bullshit observation. Everyone has a different idea of whats attractive. Who are you to say someone is unattractive? Also, perhaps that "ugly" guy is a really sweet, cool person. Many "hot" guys have huge ass fucken egos too, which is a shitty trait to have.

I don't think it's a matter of lower standards. First of all, alot of men will take whatever is thrown at them as long as they are going to get laid. But when it comes to admitting that they are attracted to, or desire a relationship with someone that isn't up to their friends standards then yes their standards may miracuously become "higher.

And when it comes to "butt" guys with beautiful girls, whenever I've seen that happen, or whenever I've been with a not-so-gorgeous guy it is because the female is nowhere near as shallow or concerned with impressing her friends with arm candy as alot of guys are. The less attractive guy (almost) always has an awesome personality and so on, which the girl obviously realized was more important. I often tend to find that guys get more attractive the more I like them personally.

In general, I think SOME women are just a little more mature and level-headed when it comes to a guys looks vs. his personality.

Than again, there ARE people that exist that don't give a fuck about what the person looks like especially in relation to themselves and how that would affect a relationship. Some other people are just downright shallow.

jawa- what the hell are you talking about "they have to put up with our shit"? Putting up with a persons "shit" is something that both people have to deal with in a relationship. It sure as hell isn't a reason to "settle" for a man "less/worse" than you(and no I'm not talking about looks here) because well, he has to put up with your woman shit so that's only fair, right? bad generalization, there's just as many horndog chicks out there as guys. For guys culturally, it's more acceptable to be a chauvanistic pig. No that doesn't make it right.
It's sorta sad to see woman still trying to break free from the man/provider woman/housything.
Totally a male dominated society out there. on the plus side, we're a couple up on numerous third world countries.

hhmmm, maybe my opinion is a little biased because I have been hounded by these chauvinistic horndogs for a hell of a long time. But To me, even though more and more women are becoming what they THINK is "sexually liberated", I still see alot more of these men out there. I rarely encounter them anymore because I've drastically changed the type of people I even associate with in the last few years, but as you said it is almost expected of them in this culture to act, or at least talk like they act that way (whether they are truly fucking horny assholes or not). I still can't see howits plausible though, that in general, and in all age groups,w omen are just as bad or worse than men. I have NEVER, not once been sexually harrassed by a women and it happens almost weekly with men. Following you in their cars, making rude comments, etc etc. Things like that just don't happen as often coming from females, then again you could be speaking about younger women and their sex lives, I dont know. If you mean that women have "needs' just as men do, thenyou are right. But I still think alot of us approach attaining these needs a little "better" than alot of boys/men do. (at least the women i know, excluding my old slutty highschool friends that is!)

When it comes to the women out there fucking anyone that drops there pants, I think alot of them have completely misunderstood and abused their sexuality because alot of the media or peer messages out there. females are sexualized at a VERY young age now, so we are basically being told to go out there and shove our bodies and our sexuality in peoples faces before we even understand what its all about. And I agree with you on the woman trying to still break free from the stereotypical roles of women, not only does it suck that women are still being repressed to a degree, but I also thing there's been a total fuck up of the way some women, or should I say girls, are trying to accomplish their freedom and liberation. Alot of it in a way that is, or will only repress us further.

And btw, when I first adressed that comment I didn't mean people should "put up with other peoples shit" while in a relationship. But everyone has to deal with "shit" their partner does, to a degree. And of course, just putting up with it isn't the best way to handle it, especially if it shouldn't be happening in the first place (such as abuse of ANY kind).
