laundromats

so during the deep freeze a couple of weeks ago, our washer was put out of commission due to the freezing of the water pipe leading up to it.

Off to the laundromat, where it's $1.25 per load to wash, $.75 per detergent for a load, and $1.25 per load to dry.

So finally the freeze is gone, waterpipes are back to normal.

And my dryer decides to die on me. :(

It's off to the laundromat again!

Are there any regular laundromat users on FnK willing to offer any survival tips, or recommendations on locations? We'll most likely have to get a new dryer, and that could be a while, and I'm running out of clothes, so I'll probably be cruising the laundromat circuit for a while.

why not just hang your clothes to dry? a good rack would be easy enough to find.

hell, i use my shower curtain as a place to hang clothes to dry. if you have enough clothes, and do them enough in advance [at least the night before] then it shouldn't be a problem.. laundromats aren't exactly for doing things in a rush anyways.

our pipes froze during that cold snap too and broke our washer
we just didnt wash anything - we were getting down to our bare essentials

good luck with everything - i dont take my washer and dryer for granted anymore - even though it takes at least 4 cycles to dry things

well it depends on how much laundry you got
but hanging clothes to dry isnt too bad
just make sure you do it with enough time to dry

I mean theres nothing like wearing a soggy pair of jeans out in the cold cold mornings :soak:

exactly, which is why you leave it AT least over night.

the more clothes you have, the better actually. then you can do smaller loads, so less has to dry at once. and if something isn't dry on time for some reason, you have other choices.

i do it with alot of my clothes, many can't go in the drier, and some it's just easier on the fabric, they stay nicer, longer.

for the record, I took up 6 washers at once today at the laundromat. Laundromat washers can take up a bit more too, so I'd have roughly 7 loads to do. Finding room in my house to hang them all? Not gonna happen. Included in these 7 loads were a Blanket, 2 pillows and snowboard gear.

I did it all today. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Laundromat was pretty empty, so I just washed all my loads and dried them all at the same time. In and out in an hour and 15 or so.

^^ that's why i said you don't do all your laundry at once :P

i do the same thing [only load after load at home] but if you do a load every other day or something, hang drying isn't so bad..
