I blame it on our old age Dave - happens to me all the time . Get all drunk...wake up stupid early...feel good, smiley, happy - hits noon feel like death
need to sleep too tired to sleep I think the answer is crank...more crank to keep you awake through Friday night |

Happens to me too...whether I have a couple cocktails...or pound back 30 shots. It's pretty damn brutal, and the lack of sleep makes your hangover the next day last until Wednesday. lol. We went out for several drinks on Thursday night with everyone from the office and yesterday was the most hellish day at work cause I couldn't sleep properly. Now I'm onto my 70 hours by the end of today and you won't even believe how sleep dep'ed I am. My muscles are so sore it feels like they're eating themselves. Must get sleep...after getting overly sloshed and partying out til 6 in the mornin' tonight. :P But the cycle will continue and I won't sleep more than a few hours in my drunken state, and next week will be another blissful 70. Gah. |

Grapes and Jingles - I am part of that "old age" club too and know EXACTLY what you mean about not being able to sleep when you drink so much. I mean, sure I pass out right away, but I end up getting up sooo fricken early and then I have to nurse a hangover!

i think its cause when you fall asleep under the influence of alcohol your body gets more REM sleep which basically rejuvenates the body more... this doesnt just apply for alcohol either.. it happens with any downer ie. weed
when i used to spend late late nights at bcit my buddy told me to take a shot or two of alcohol before going to sleep and 4 hrs of sleep will feel like 8hrs of sleep |

i don't quite get hangovers either. if anything, i feel a little stupid the next day, but that's all. of course, that happens any given day when i don't get any sleep. although it's not quite the old age thing happening here..

My dad explained this to me most recently. Apparently, no, when you pass out drunk, you don't actually get real sleep. But after the alcohol wears off your brain gets wired (it's the same as being sketchy after E except it's a depressant and so reverse effect. Instead of being sluggish and not able to sleep, you're wired and unable to sleep). In actuality, you're NOT actually getting a decent amount of sleep at all, in fact you're being robbed of your nightly slumber, but your body doesn't mind so much because you're mind is too busy to listen to your body screaming at you WE NEED SLEEP or something like that.
A reminder, kids: Drugs fuck with chemicals in your brain. Suprise surprise. That's why they do what they do. |
