if you want a slightly more reliable "source" use BearShare.....Kaaza is just trouble waiting to pounce on your comp...my suggestion is to get rid of it asap.
Who knows what kind of adware/spyware and possible viruses you mightve downloaded, unintentionally. Or you can just support your fav artists by buyin their shit....;) |

i have now resolved to buying cds and ripping them at 224kbps. Not only am i getting superb sound quality, i'm supporting artists pay their advances and get the royalties they deserve from record sales.
Downloading mp3s is getting sketchy. It's hard to find tracks and on top of that good sounding ones that pound the bass clean and crisp |

wtf are you talking about ?!?!
of course every sale counts. most of it goes to the labels of course (89% i believe), but the 11% (i think this is the %) goes to paying off recoupable advances then futher royalties dont be giving me fuckin attitude if you don't even know what the fuck you're talkin about loser. eat shit n die for all i care i'm sick of your condescending shit |

It's not 11%. It entirely depends on the contract that the band signs. More often than not it's way less than that. label makes about $8 on the CD, artists usually see about 50 cents of that. Artists DON'T make their money on CD sales. They make it by gigs and going on tour. Any signed artist that doesn't own their own label will tell you that. Doesn't matter anyways. The way I see it CDs are obsolete. Overpriced and inconvenient. Can't beat free from home any day. CDs are designed to distribute. Now the distribution can be done cheaper and easier. But of course because the RIAA just wants to get richer without doing work, they automatically say that this is a Bad Thing. And so they lobby the government so stuff like the DMCA gets made so they can sue the pants off of perfectly innocent people just exercising the concept of the Free Market. Sad to see that for so many people in north america that proclaim capitalism as the only possible means of maintaining economic stability despite the fact that it's not practiced out here. But given the amounts of propoganda the world seems to just eat up, I'm not surprised that people have zero concept of what capitalism is about. |
