You go to your bank and ask for a print out of the charges that have gone through your account (or print off online banking report / monthly statement). Call ICBC's billing department - tell them what happened and say you've gone to your bank and have a bank statement showing the funds they took. Ask for a fax number so you can fax in the statement to them. Black out any personal info you don't want them to see. Ask for a manager if you don't get anywhere with the person who picks up the phone

Do what geminiz said. Call ICBC, get them to look up your account. Get all your bank information. They should be able to work it out. |

Well I'm safe... since I only have enough money in my account for them to take out. But, in all honesty, chances are some trainee didn't know exactly what some of the buttons were doing. Or whatever. Talk to them, cuz if it's a computer setting thatn you'll be screwed over for many months to come.

Okay - former banker coming through
One - Direct debits come out on a certain day, but because of the way they are set up the company that takes them may not show the payment for a day or two - that's why if you noticed right away and called ICBC they might not be showing anything YET Two - if you have a direct debit set up from your chequing or Savings account, then the insufficent funds charge came from your bank Once ICBC has reversed the extra payment you can then use that as proof to your bank that it was ICBCs mistake and have them neverse the insufficent funds charge Three: this was very likely not human error, but machine glitch - a person doesn't enter all monthly direct debits - if it had been working smoothly in the past , then this was just a system fuck up, sad but true Make sure you did not in fact owe two months of pymt (ie last months bounced and you didnt notice) and thou it is enraging, do your best to keep your cool cause then folks wanna help and get you your money back |
