why be apologetic for being rich? what's wrong w/ being rich? what's wrong w/ having rich parents? cuz society casts shame on the rich, and having rich parents? fak that. |

"there's nothing wrong with rich people buying their kids lots of stuff." <-- thank u. that's much better. i take exception to ppl saying otherwise cuz much of it has to do w/ jealousy than anything else. as for parents working abroad, well, they need to earn a shit load of money to buy their kids new bmw and mercedes every year. gotta keep up w/ the jones or wong or wang or chan or w/e... :kam: |

no, not always jealousy just 90% of the time. 14? more like 16+ unless they're driving $100k porsches w/o a license. as for the parents, it's a matter of economics. earn $60k after tax in canada or $2/300k+ in hong kong @ 15% tax. wut would u do? |

so abandoning your kids in another country is okay so long as your making a lot of money? yeah right. i would go for more money, but at the same time i wouldn't send my kids to live in another country. |

I don't think it is a bad thing for parents to purchase their kids a car, not at all. If the kids going to take it for granted then ya thats wack, if they're gona be bragging about it or driving it around recklessly then they shouldn't have it either.
but if you have the money and your kid needs to get to school or work and you can afford it, then hook em up. It's all a toss up, i have friends who have totaled 5-6 cars and their parents just keep replacing them. It's crazy. But then i have other friends who are entirely responsible and their parents won't hook them up at all, and that's wack. Buying your kid a car is a good thing for them, it's not like its a toy or a luxery. For the most part you need a car or atleast it enables you to do a whole lot more then you could trying to catch the bus. Last edited by cinist; Mar 17, 04 at 04:09 PM. |
