Counter-Measures for fake tickets
I don't understand why the big promoters still use paper-ticketing systems. Ticket master is a joke. The only effective system I have seen that combats counterfeits is the swipe cards. Each ticket is encoded with a special number that is decoded when the holder swipes it at the door upon entry. Back in the day they used to use this system and somewhere along the lines they gave up on it. The system does exist in Vancouver and I think it should still be used religiously. The cost to the promoter is $1 per ticket. The readers are set up at the entrance and every person that walks in has to swipe their card. If the light turns green u go in. If the light turns red it's a fake. Very simple to use. The other bonus is that you have a souvenir to keep after the party is over and the cards can also be recharged for future events. Although this technology may not fit the budgets of smaller events it can certainly be used for the mainstream 3000+ ppl parties. Fewer headaches for the promoters and piece of mind for the ticket-holders.
The scammers often walk away with a fat pocket once the scam is over. Lets say 300 tickets were sold at $40 a piece. That means the guy made a cool $12,000 off the efforts of an honest promoter. Pretty lame that we're still using archaic technology.. ~fORM |

I don't think the problem is counterfeit tickets.
more like slimeball promoters who oversell their events, which are already complete moneygrabs, so they can make even MORE money off them. It's sad to see that a scene that started out pretty much as an escape from the real world has become what it is now. there's a very good reason I've never been to a plaza or riverside party. |

Might be a possibity
I hope not.... but who knows?
There were quite a few signs set-up last night with messages like "All people with fake tickets will be handed over to the Police" Or "Fake ticket holders will be punished" I also heard anyone caught scalping tickets were questioned... Shitty that so much uncertainty exists |

at the door of this party, AFTER the venue was at capacity, they sold an additional 400-500 tickets @ $120 each, overcrouding the event even more, and making it pretty much impossible for legitimate presale ticketholders to get in. how that for uncertainty? |

if ur reffering to the tickets for spooky, i believe that the collesium has a contract with ticket master. u want to throw an event there, u have to sell tix through ticket master. ticket master is a joke cuz they take a certain % of ur profit, and charges u for credit card blah blah blah... so pne collesium = tickmaster = paper ticket

Preventing counterfeit tickets from getting through the door is fucking easy.
All that you have to do is to number the tickets randomly. Then, you have another number on the ticket, random as well, that you use to match it up with. Then, a simple computer program is written that will cross reference the random number, with the other random number from a database. If they match, the ticket is good. If not, it's useless. Simple system. Simple implementation. Reaching capacity with thousands left outside would never be a problem. Of course, this is assuming that promoters aren't the ones creating the "counterfeit" tickets in the first place. Unnamed entities create quite effective scapegoats for cashgrabs. ][nkster |

I don't think those undernet cards are totally foolproof because I think a couple of people who bought them for Supersweet didn't get through because their tickets didn't pass when swiped.
I do kinda miss those cards tho, I only got to keep one of them and I gave it away :( |
