looking for a job
I've handed out so many resumes over the past 2 months and still can't find a job!! I have a casual job as a waitress, but one or possibly 2 shifts a week just doesnt cut it. When I talk to employers they are always saying "We are looking for someone with experience." How is a person supposed to get experience if no one will hire them!?!?!? argh ...What are your thoughts on this????

Try a website like this. They have lots of different job postings and ones that you don't need experience for. But they will in turn give you the experience you are looking for.

So give your resume even if it says they require someone who is "experienced" or has some qualifications which you don't have. You'd be surprised how many employers do actually want people with no experience, yet have a great attitude. Never hurts to try :) |

IMO, it doesn't really matter how MANY resumes you hand out... if you're not going the extra mile to sell yourself as a potential employee... Find a few stores/companies that you might be willing to work for.. do some research, speak to the manager (who's name you should ask for beforehand.. ie.. call in), act confident and make an impression.. You're competing against various others who apply daily who may or may not have more experience than you so first impressions are important. If you really want a particular job, you have to go that extra mile. |
