i just moved out and my cell phone is my landline. first month's bill was $160 and i don't even feel like i talk a lot on it during the day. if anything, they are relatively short phone calls. i had $40 in just text messaging alone. i called rogers to cancel my plan and said that i would pay the fee to break my contract ($150) cause i would still be saving money in the long term. after pushing and pushing to break my contract, the cs rep finally offered me 6 months unlimited minutes on the $45 plan and $15 for 500 text messages per month. this works out great for me cause i can cancel my contract in november (and the fee to break the contract will be a lot lower...it's $20/month and the contract is for two years), i won't have to pay fido a $50 activation fee, and fido still ends up to be quite a bit more than $45 after taxes, text messaging, SAF, voicemail and caller ID. it WILL be worth it to switch to fido after my 6 months unlimited with rogers is over, but not at this time.

in vancity I've never had a problem with fido ( except in a solid concerete building or whatever ). It's crystal clear. And erica you don't have to pay extra for everything, you just get the add on bundle for 5$ which gives you all that stuff. It's 40$ without the add-on, 45 with.

cell phones are very adult things to have, especially when you're on a post-paid plan. you're just lucky that the first big zing you recieved was manageable. you won't get to do the things you planned, but it'll get paid off. |
