hearing bad news about a friend
i was just watching the news an hour ago and i saw a story about a 19 year old guy in richmond who was really badly beaten for trying to save a woman from being raped. for the first little bit of the story they didnt show or say who this 19 year old was, they were just explaining briefly about the story. when they eventually showed who the guy was, i nearly filled my pants. it turns out this guy is a good friend of mine who i havent spoken to in about 6 months.
he's got 40 stiches on his face, and his face is completely swollen. he looks absolutely horrible. to top it all off, the woman who he tried to save wont come forward. plus, the guy he was with was a complete pussy and ran off while my buddy was getting beaten. i dont whos ass i want to kick more, the guy who beat him or his buddy who ran off. |

Wow, that shouldn't have happened to someone who was obviously kind and brave enough to try to save that woman. Thankfully he's ok, and although he'll hurt for a long time.. he should realise what an awesome thing he did and that he is obviously a better person than both his friend, and the man who beat him.
As for the girl, it was obviously a horrifying experience, and as most girls who were raped, or attacked she's probably scared, confused, ashamed, and possibly blaming herself. Hopefully she will realise it was not her fault and that the man who attacked both her and your friend needs to be caught and she can help. |

yeah it's a shame it happened to him, kevin is a super good guy.
he even said at the press conference that he's glad he got beaten instead of the woman. his exact words were "im glad it happened to me. i could handle the beating better than the girl probably could have." it definately takes a man to say something like that. |

I'm so thankful there are still heros on this world, seriously.
Some guy rescued my friend from a car accident and saved his life, these two teenagers that pulled an elderly couple out of a burning house, the father who died saving his son from drowning..and now this. It seriously makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I know it probably really hurts deep down to see pictures of your friend looking like that, but look at it this way- at least your friends are good people. Your friend was a hero, and he's going to be known as one. While it is sad, you should be proud. |

^^
yeah no doubt. as lame and cheesy as it sounds, it definately makes me proud to be friends with this guy. it's just so fucked up to think about though. apparently, he dragged himself 1.5 kilometers down the road before emergency vehicles could get to him. the paramedics found him by following a trail of blood to where he was. that's something that is really hard to stomach, it makes me sick even thinking about it. it would be a different story if this was the result of a stupid drunken fight, but he did this trying to protect someone who obviously couldn't protect themselves. |

well hopefully the girl is ok. they dont know if shes still with the guy that tried to attack her or if shes not with him at all that guy is a fucking hero...good for him for having so much heart and such compassion to step in the middle of something like that even though he had no idea what would happen its a damn good thing he only got beat up...the wounds will heal.... as for the guy who took off...ya thats not cool, but unfortunately its hard for some people to get up the courage to do what this kevin guy did... |

As a woman, I have MAAAAAAAAAAD respect for him. It's good to know that there are still people out there who aren't scared to do the right thing, regardless of the possible consequences. I would be so proud to know this guy if he were my friend.
I just hope that that girl (or someone who knows her) steps forward. While helping her wasn't for nothing, it would be horrible for the guy who did it to get away with hurting Kevin so badly. |

Kevin's fucking awesome, that's all there is to it!
I'm gonna miss chit-chatting with him at the gas station, but man, what a stand-up guy. This happened literally around the corner from my house - Monday afternoon there were news vans parked all the way down my street, I had no idea what was going on. Then about 30 minutes later I was sitting here listening to the radio and doing laundry when they said what had happened, and holy shit! Seeing his picture on the front page of the Province yesterday morning was like a slap to the face - he's so swollen he barely looks like himself! There aren't a lot of people who are so selfless that they would go through that just to save someone else. He's lucky he's alive...with a fractured skull a few more punches could have killed him, and if the paramedics didn't find him all the way down the street, he could have bled to death. Josh...I'm going to either send or drop off a card at his house, and maybe a little something else. If you want, I'll come by your place and you can sign it, too. |

What an awesome guy! He will forever be respected for being so thoughtful and courageous. I just heard on Global that the woman has come forward and apparently has 'crucial' information on the whereabouts of the bastard responsible for such a violent act. Hopefully all goes well for the woman and Kevin.
