Banks
i get of work at 7 30 and was told my bank was open till 8. so i drive up there and get to the branch and it's closed. i have a insurance payment of 350 comming out tonight and i needed to deposit 300.00 that my friend owed me and a 70 doller cheque to cover it. so when it's closed i decide to just deposit the cash in the bank machine. after i do so i realize that it will be held for like a week and this lady is like you know the other branch uptown is open till 8. so i rush up there and deposit the cheque and ask if there is anyway i can get that cash in my account by tommarow and there isn't.
now i'm fucked. end of rant.

That's when you call your bank, explain the urgency of the situation and most likely if you're upset (and polite) enough they'll waive the holding period probably one time only. You'll have to go to your home branch in person to get that holding period completely waived from the account.

okay, that's when you turn up the 'I'm a pissed off customer' level slightly.
Trust me, the more unimpressed you seem with their service (within reasonable parmaters and assuming you're needing something that cannot be done) the more they'll want to do something for you to keep their business.

I can put my cheque in and draw it straight out again. Change banks. I'm with TD now because I found CIBC and ROYAL screw around with your accounts way too mch without your ok. TD's pretty wicked and the Customer service when you need it is top notch.

Yah, just raise all holy hell and they'll do what you want. You should have heard me on the phone when I was in Florida and they wanted to hold my Paycheque. I had like $60 Canadian on me and I needed to get a Hotel to get out of the 102 degree weather (89% Humidity) and I proceeded to rain down the Fire and Brimstone until they processed it right through for me. :) ScotiaBank is my Bitch now.

ya i work for td, the way to get things is to be nice at first about it and dont give up. there are some things that cant be done, or some things that tellers cant do,but when that comes up just ask to talk to someone else, becuase as a teller i know i cant do a thing about the green machines, but my manager sure as hell can. and save the threatening of closing your account as a last resort, it honestly doesnt look that inpressive when we see it all day every day.

it is TD and i did talk to the manager and because it's a youth account they can't do it or some shit
and autoplan called me today and if the hold isn't gone in 2 days i have to pay a re-installment fee and all this shit. i mean it wasn't even a cheque i deposited, it was cash, I WANT THAT ENVOLOPE BACK
