so now that i'm going to be 19 i have to switch my bank account from my nice and free youth account to a student account.

if i don't do this then they freeze my account on my birthday and i can't get any money :(

i think i'm just going to keep all my money in a shoebox in my closet instead.

depending on your bank, the student and youth accounts may be the same thing.

yeah it's not at my bank. they told me it's a bit diffferent.

like instead of unlimited ATM transactions, i now have a monthly limit on how many times i can use interac and if i go over that limit then they charge me whatever ammount of dollars for each one after that.

i use interac for everything! i hate cash.

that's not so bad. much better than the straight up adult fees [like i'll get when i'm 19! heh]
you've just got to get yourself into the habit of using cash more. interac is just too convenient.

no fees. period.


the downside is there isnt really a bank you can go to. stuff is done online. or you might be able to go to CIBC to ask some stuff since its form that bank.. not too sure

well i just got back from my bank.

i now have a student account, online banking and an application for a credit card.

About 5 years ago i had to switch to a student account with RBC. Its only $3 a month and there are no electronic fees if u only end up doing a few transactions a month (like 2-4). So far its been ok for me.

yeah mine is 3.45 a month and i get 20 free transactions and they're 50 cents after that.

but like bungo said, no actual branch. but phone and net is more than enough for me. and pc uses cibc machines, which are in 7-11's so that kicks ass too
