seeing things that you wish you hadn't seen...

At around hastings and main my bus halted at a red light. Looking out the window, I saw what I thought was perhaps a "couple" "holding" one another... I observe more carefully and see that the man was standing right behind the woman and that they were both facing forward.. the man had both hands firmly around the woman's waist.. they were both clothed.... I thought it was kind of odd to see a couple on main and hastings just "holding" one another (a sight you rarely see) in the way that they were, so upon further observation I noticed that the man was moving back and forth in and out of her in a manner that made it quite obvious that he was fucking her in public right infront of an abandoned store for all to see. Although the lady was fully clothed her clothing was really masculine and baggy and there's a good chance that there was a strategic hole at the crotch/ass of her pants.. I hate to assume and to judge but by the looks of it (considering she looked like a crackhead), I'm pretty sure she was prostituting herself in broad daylight.

i was quite disturbed upon realizing what was going on.. sometimes you just wish you didn't see things.. like that dead fruitfly in my caesar salad at lunch.

I saw the same thing in the main room at IMF '03. but with some old nammer chick and a 20 something persian guy.

Man that part of Hastings is like a zombie land, last time I was there, musta been three hundred of those people over a few blocks staggering around, shaking, convulsing, making wierd gestures, and all of them in those drab raggy clothes because they're so poor.

Like a science fiction movie. Somebody should film it because nobody who hasn't seen it would believe there is such a place.

No. Once is enough, thanks... It isn't that I didn't question the person and the life behind the act, but admittedly my initial reactions were of disgust and shock. The questions did come afterwards. I'm not in any way saying that hers (and the lives of others) are more traumatic than those who are simply outside witnesses of the lives of those driven to prostitution, but as I said, it was something I felt that I wish I hadn't seen (the act, that is).


My bus rides to work are kind of surreal. You pass through such contrasting settings... It's like the busride that takes you trough different lifestyles.
