Theft, thieves...!!!

...and absent-mindedness too.

This was our stupid mistake: we left the garage door open over-night. Yes, it was our fault. The open garage door was an invitation to theft, and we're lucky that nothing more was stolen. But, theft in general still pisses me off and it makes me even angrier that it could have been prevented. It also makes me angry that I think I know who it was (as in, where the person lives) and that I can probably confirm which house the thief lives in. It angers me because there is probably little I can do (is there?) even if one day I walk down the street to see some person using my dad's 500$ power washer to clean their driveway. The only thing I can ever hope for is that they mistakenly leave their garage door open so I can resteal my dad's power washer for him.

Theft happens, I know. But when it's personal, it still really pisses me off.

I did the same thing last July, accidentally left the garage door open all night. Then apparently around 9am somebody went in the garage and into my car and took the garage door remote control. Then they put a power block sander under the garage door and set the garage door to close , and then it hits the sander and goes back up again. They must have been pushing the garage door remote control as they walked down the street, so the garage door would go up and down.

I didn't know anything was going on cuz I was inside doing DJ practice and the speakers were up high, then finally a neighbour let me know something was happening. Probably it was a kid from down the street.

I was a little freaked out cuz a burglar broke in and stole my computer last year.

.
must've been a "friendly" reminder that your garage door was open. Friendly because nothing was stolen, that is/at least.

I don't know who it is, but at around 7:30 am when I left the house to go to work I noticed the garage door was open so I took a quick look around the garage to see if anything was stolen but everything seemed intact so I just closed the door and left the house. But then I noticed a gray van parked right across from my house and i thought it was kind of sketchy because the engine was on and someone was obviously inside the car.. but i didn't recognize the car that was parked there and noone in my neighbourhood just parks there with their engine on at 7:30 in the morning, Most people in my neighbourhood are inside their homes or sleeping at that time. I thought that maybe it was the vancouver sun paper boy but I still found it out of place and a bit creepy so I just started walking faster towards my busstop. Then, I noticed that the car started moving as soon as I started walking down the street and it was driving really slowly behind me.. which I thought was creepy cause I thought that maybe it was following me so I walked faster. Eventually, as I looked back I noticed that the car turned into a driveway of a nearby house and then I realized that a paperboy wouldn't drive into someone's house like that. I didn't think much of it at the time and went to work.

Today my dad noticed that the water-pressure cleaner was gone, and then it clicked in. The person in the van would have seen our garage door open as it was parked right across from our house. The van probably wasn't following me, the person was probably trying to drive back to his/her house discretely, which was why they were heading in the same direction as me but at a much slower pace.

I don't know if the person lives at the household that he drove into, but I have a good feeling that it's probably a theft within the neighbourhood because our neighbourhood is very closed in and only someone who lives in or near the area would pass by my house.

Another reason why I think that it was the person in that grey van was because only the water-pressue machine (though the most expensive item) was stolen. I think most people would have been inclined to steal the two bikes in our garage, the tennis rackets and shoes and other things. I think that as soon as I closed the garage door the person in the van had just stolen the water pressure machine and because I noticed the door was open and closed it, he coudn't steal anything further.

:P

i've caught someone trying to break into my tenants car. Chanced him down the street in my under wear no shoes and a bat with snow on the ground at about -10 temperatures.

If I would of caught him it would of been all over.

Bah! I hate thieves. I had these absolutly crazy Neighbours before. (they got evicted for the children driving nails up through the slide, so that kids would cut themselves going down. Yah........)
But they lived next to me in my complex. And I swear that the daughter would take my clothes from the laundry room when I wasn't there. The sons would also vandalize my moms cars. And when she tried to talk to the parents about it. The air head mom would just be like " I don't see my kids doing things like that" Even though most of the tenants would complain about them on a regular basis. My mom and I couldn't really do much about it though. Because it happned when she wasn't watching the car. But they always seemed to be in the area when it happned. And most evidence lead to them. She almost caught them, but they trashed the evidence. So yah it was totaly lame. Ended up with hundreds of dollars lost in damage and missing clothing.
It sucks when you are positive who is doing it. But you can't prove it to the police.
At least they got kicked out of our complex though.
