The lack of common courtesy, and effing rude people.

Rant #1:

This is something that I've had boiling inside of me for a while now. The more I take transit, the more it makes itself obvious.

We are a society filled with assholes.

Seriously. I can't take the bus or the Skytrain anymore without having someone shove their way in front of me to get on just ahead in hopes of getting a seat or god knows why else. People NEVER move to the back of the bus when it's necessary, on the OFF CHANCE that the person in front of them will get out of their seat before they have to get off. There's young people who sit in the seats at the front when there's handicapped/elderly people/pregnant women STANDING. People never say "excuse me" when they need to get by. This morning I almost got pushed out the back door by a girl trying to get off. She elbowed and pushed me until she got by (let me add that I wasn't trying to obstruct her...The bus was so packed I really had nowhere to go). At the skytrain, it's all you can do to get off the train, because people are crowded so closely around the door to get on. Getting on is even worse, with people absolutely SHOVING you from behind to get on.

Does common courtesy like "excuse me" or "I'm sorry!" not exist anymore? Is it so hard to wait your turn? Has patience become an unknown virtue? I wish I had my own car so I didn't have to take transit anymore. To me it's gotten -that- bad.

Rant # 2:

Well, there's obviously a full moon tomorrow, because there is absolutely no other reason that I can think of for the amount of just plain RUDENESS that I've encountered this morning.

Since I've started work this morning (at 9:00), I've had to deal with people throwing their Visa cards across the counter at me; people saying "EXCUSE me. Can you take our money?" when I'm the only cashier in, I'm already in the middle of a transaction, have a lineup and they're next in line; and having someone on the phone tell me that I'm a horrible CSR because I don't know the number to our head office and I tried to make things easier on them by trying to find out which department they're looking for there.

WTF. Do I have "PLEASE SHIT ON ME" tattooed on my forehead today? :soak:

awwww . . . I feel ya. I hate getting on the transit. But its either dealing with the many DUMB FUCKS on the bus or paying 6 bucks a day for parking. But i do agree with you. *look at my punk on the bus post* I just put my head down and if anyone cuts in front of me, I yank em by their colars LOL hehehehehe. Hope your day gets better.

I hate quoting the bible but "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Do Unto You" is a very simple rule that people just don't abide by. I always wanted to take the persons credit card and track down where they work and walk in and just start ranting and raving at them and then in a calm voice say "Now how does it feel when I come into your work and treat you this way". I don't know I hope that we (the next gen) set better standards for society than our current fore fathers who have seemed to have lost the concept of common desency.

ugh yes. people are rude snappy and more rude in general I find. the one I hate about the bus is how everyone tries to rush on right away while there is a mom with her stroller trying to get off. wait your turn retards!
customer service is the worst, I understand you there. once you get behind a counter you are no longer a person you're a thing that's supposed to know all and see all. I love getting yelled at when I don't know where to find organic juice ( after telling them you won't find it in our store) or better yet, why the hell don't I know where you can find organic juice bottles? I mean I am customer service right? what the hell is wrong with me?
and just great we are getting into the rudest worst shopping season of the year. woohoo!

That reminds me of this lady I saw today. I got off the skytrain at granville, go up the escalators and walk through the door. On your right you have the little convenience store thing and there were a few young korean girls standing there. They weren't in anyones way, there was plenty of room and it wasn't even that busy. This prissy ass older lady walks as if she has a set path and everyone has to get out of her way. She ends up totally knocking shoulders with one of the girls, who was looking the other way. She turns around and starts apologizing and this older lady just starts muttering and giving her dirty looks. I walked behind her like WTF? I had the urge to speed up and knock right into her and make a sarcastic comment. :\

Transit + customer service are just bad. Taking transit to and from your customer service job is even worse. Been there, and will be for a while.

Hnn... This why I:

A). Always wait until the crowd has settled down before getting on a bus. It's not like I'm in a major rush to get on the bloody thing. It won't leave before I have to get on. Sure, it's nice to get a seat but, honestly, I'd rather stand than sit beside another person in cramped conditions (unless that person's a hottie :D ).

B). Gave up customer service work to do grunt manual labor work. Just go in, do the job without interruption, and no pissy attitudes to deal with (heh... not even the boss since I'm on night crew). It's amazing how much my level of drinking down at the pub has gone down ever since I made the change.

^I'm dearly proud of the fact that I didn't touch either the mickey of vodka in my freezer OR my bottle of Alize last night.

I DID eat a bowl of Haagen Dazs Cookie Dough Explosion ice cream, though.

I often dream of seeing the next person that doesn't offer their seat to an old person or steps on my foot without saying excuse me taken right off the bus and executed.

Back to reality though I hear what you're saying, there are a lot of rude people that could really use a lesson in manners. Iguess on the bright side if you're on the bus you don't have to deal with them crashing into your car, cutting you off, stealing your parking and all of that.

As for customer service I know if you're having a bad day people can get to you but for real if they're acting like pricks just be polite and laugh at them on the inside. Personally I find that the bitchier a person is the funnier it is to me as the chances are they need my help to get something done and I can make their day just that little bit more agonizing if I want to.
