Broken flooded Old Cars

My poor car is a 71 bug.

and after all that rain, i opened the door to find, a 3 inch deep puddle of water in my back seat.

:(

I had a similar problem with my first car, it was a '79 volkswagen rabbit.

It really is no fun, especially with the wet winters we have in vancouver.

Funny how they're both Volkswagens. I love them... but their Heating, Electrical and Weatherstripping on the older models leave something to be desired.

this is all true.

similar to the way mustangs handle when there is an ounce of moisture on the pavement.

if you have the right tires and enough weight on the back end they're fine... i'll give you the fact that with enough HP you hit the gas and you're looking behind you, but once it dries that oz of moisture all you import kids are looking at is a smoking line of rubber.

you're ragging on cars that last way longer than a mustang.

the only time a stang, or a domestic last that long is if it's never driven.

15+years isn't that hard for a vw to do.

having to drive around with bags of sand or bricks in my trunk doesn't sound fun to me.

that would be the exception to the rule. i wasn't referencing your car in particular. besides if we were only referencing the cars mentioned in this thread, discord's bug is a 71. that's 33 years. do you have a point?

and your car has 127k on it. that would classify has hardly driven. like i said in my original post.

My Great Uncle drives a 1955 Meteor and a 1967 Ford Falcon... they're daily drivers, they still rip too. I'm just saying that Domestics like Imports will last as long as you treat them well.

My cousin used to own a '94 mustang gt convertible. He had 18" rims on it with 255 on the back. At the first hint of snow he would have to shovel tire paths so he could make it through his alley to park the car in the garage.

And don't even get me started on the sliding in the rain.

Mustangs are great if you're going in a straight line and it's a dry summer's day.

heh heh yah... Summer Car indeed. Although there are a fair amount of Mustang Road Racers and Auto Cross Cars as well. I've seen an SVT Cobra rip through the cones and the Road Course here at the Airport a few times. There's also an old Fox Body Mustang like mine that's set up like that. You can overcome the problems with the traction with a decent suspension. Too bad I'm too poor to do that.

mmmmmm 454... my friend in Horsefly has a Chevy Longbox w/ Duallys and a 454 in it. He's had it blueprinted and balanced etc... he can spin all 4 tires all day. It's one of the most amazing trucks I've ever had a ride in.
