Slave On Foods
the stupid fucks fired me after a year and a half of working there with NO prior incidents, i have never even been late. last friday me and my friend were going out for a smoke and i had fries from the deli and came back inside and was waiting in line and i was eating them in the line-up (cuz my break was an hour late and i had been on the till for 3 hours straight and i was starving) and store security and the manager grab me and take me upstairs and say i'm suspended until the manager talks to me. so a week later i get called into a meeting and they are like we have to terminate you due to theft BECAUSE I ATE FUCKING FRIES IN THE LINE UP
i'm so pissed off |

see, the first thing people tell you is goto labor relashions and try to fight it, but in fact, you can't do shit. After 6 monthes they can't just fire you, unless it's for breaking the rules 3 times (written/verbal/termination) - OR, if you caught stealing.
Sounds to me like they didin't like you and found any excuse in the book to terminate you. Question is, did you pay for the fries anyways? I say move on, get a friend that you work with do your reference. Nothing you can really do, unless they charge you for theft under 5000, which would be ludicrous. |

funny i ran into this thread. i just quit my job at save-on today after working there for the past year and a half.
that place is honestly a joke. i've had some pretty shitty jobs before but this one takes the cake. i dont know if it's because save-on is a jimmy patison company or because it's poorly managed, but they treat their employees like complete fucking dirt. i could get into all the ridiculous employee policies but i'll be here for a while. i know how much it sucks not having a job but at the same time you'll probably thank yourself that you got out of there. trust me, save-on is a go nowhere kinda job. there is bigger and better opportunities out there for yourself. |

yeah really stupid policies like you have to have your reciept attatched to anything you have boughten and gay stuff like that. the problem with what i did was the store security was there and was the one who reported me, if it was a manager who saw me he would just let me pay for it. the store security gu told dave the senior clerk who was in charge and he had to take the action because it's store policy but he told my friend later that night that if it was up to him he wouldn't of cared but sinc eit was store security they have to fire you.
yeah save on is shit but it's a good job to fall back on because the hours are easily changed and i was there so long i didn't have to take anyone crap. plus i was close with everyone who worked there and now i don't get to see them as much. |

that's scary. When I worked at IGA they were so lenient that even the deli manager encouraged us to take home foods that were about to be expired for free.. we all also (including all managers) "tested" different foods/desserts and made ourselves a free sanwich from time to time.
management makes such a huge difference... |

IGA is made for a different type of consumer then Save On is hence the higher price tag and better quality on most stuff.. Also it depends on all your managers and such regional manager on down.. |
