i've had 1 wisdom tooth removed. they had to cut it into 3 pieces to remove it.

the worst part is if your jaw gets sore, it's hard to eat. that was the absolute worst part. i took 1 t3 for pain. so it doesn't always kill...

haha, i got mine taken out in August.. the best part was the 'getting-knocked-out-with-valium' part. :D after that, i couldn't eat solids for about 2 days, but i recovered pretty fast. Was eating again after a week fine. On the plus side, you get 2 containers of T3's

yah eating is a bitch.. so is yawning which I do quite often. my friend told me they have to cut into your gums to get them out and then they stitch you up after which causes swelling leading to "blowfish cheaks".. is that for every case? or is there any way around that. *scared*

ya, they cut into your gums and stitch it up. the stitches disolve in your mouth after like a week or so... but you should be knocked out when they cut into the gums, so nothing to be worried about. cant feel a thing ;)

I had all four of mine taken out at once. I took a "Lorezepam" Tranquilizer before I got there that they gave me prior. By the time I got there I barely knew where I was and what was going on. They kept me awake... it's so weird, you can feel the pressure as they cut open my Gums and cut the teeth into 1/4's. The craziest part was seeing the big bloody pieces being taken out and thinking "HOLY FUCK THIS MUST HURT! And I can't feel it... wickeddddd!" Oh! Helpful hint... during the healing process; Carnation Instant Breakfast is awesome! No chewing, just tastiness with the feeling of a meal.

i've had to get that for my lower 2, but the top two they just yanked out. Its not fun, but if you are going to get it done ask if you can get all 4 at once. It will save you a lot of pain and trouble in the long run. Yes your face gets swollen for a day or two and its hard to talk and eat after, but just eat soup n stuff.

they way they cut it out is all dependant on your teeth and the position they are in.

i had mine done over spring break when i was in grade 12. top two were normal, so they cut in my gums and took them out, no problem. my bottom two were impacted (growing sideways, into my other teeth) so they were more difficult. even then, they just cut into my gums, broke the teeth and took them out. the bottom took a bit longer to heal, but other than that there was no huge differences.

just ask that they consciously sedate you and it'll be all good. nitrous + oxygen + valium + novocaine = nothing scary. just lie back and let the drugs do what they do and you'll be fine. :)

I mean I'm never gonna have the top ones. They just don't exist in my head. My dentist told me that this was rare and that I am lucky. less pain= lucky.

just say yes to drugs.

i had all four of mine taken out last year. they were huge and mangled and had to be broken into peices. DESPITE all of that, it was one of my top ten ranking drug experiences of all time.

i exaggerated my wight by 15 lbs and got higher doses of valium, and then i stayed awake anyway so he offered me nitrous while i was watching rapcity on the little tv. i stayed awake the whole time, tripped out hard, and totally forgot i was even at the dentist.

I had mine taken out last friday. All four. The bottom ones they had to drill and stich up, but the top ones popped right out...kinda. They took plier like things and tugged 'em out.

Nasty.

I think my sutures (stiches...whatever. Fuck, I can't spell) dissolved to quick, though. There are still gaping holes in my lower jaw not sealed together on both sides, and I keep getting food stuck in 'em. It's getting to be really fucking annoying, I must say.

that gaping holes thing just gave me the heebie jeebies.it sounds painful. I can feel mine right underneath my gums with my tongue... I guess that means they will be cutting into my mouth instead of just yanking them.=\

*shudder*

i havent gotten mine taken out yet and i'm 19. i think my last dentist visit was around 16 and he told me then that the next time i came in i would proabably have to get them removed.. most likely why i havent been in in 3 years.. lol i should go for my checkup though

question: is it necessary to get your wisdom teeth removed if they dont cause you pain or fuck up your other teeth? my dad never got his done and he's all like, they just get to you remove them to jip your money.

the stitches are meant to dissolve in about a week. they close up the wound, but the holes take about a month to fully heal and fill themself in.
annoying, i know, but they don't hurt so it's not bad.

no way. if they aren't bothering you, just keep them. i got all four of mine out since the bottom two were growing against all my other teeth and it was starting to hurt. then i just asked them to do the top two at the same time so i wouldn't have to worry about it.

my mom just had one removed a couple years ago because it never bothered her until then.
