I've heard that the shock of quitting on a pregnant, heavy smoker's body can be as harmful to her unborn baby as continuing to smoke heavily. So it's better for a very heavy smoker to cut back rather than quit entirely.
I'm not sure where I heard this so I can't back up the validity of this statement. It maybe completely false but it does make sense as far as withdrawl from addiction goes. Anyone have any further information on this? |

Just did some googling and couldnt find anything to back up what I heard. I also looked up the nicotine withdrawal symptoms and most of them look like what pregnant women have to put up with anyways heh.
I don't plan on getting pregnant or starting smoking anytime soon so I guess I don't really have to worry. Still, I'd like to know what a doctor would have to say about withdrawal symptoms and quitting during pregnancy about any drug from nicotine to heroin. And yes optimally the best thing to do is to quit before you get pregnant |
